Hospitals in Tampa

What has been your experiences at St. Joeseph's Women's Hospital? I have found an OB/GYN that I really like, but they only deliver there. This is my 2nd child (son was born elsewhere) and I am nervous about not having a NICU. My son was born at 35 weeks, but luckily didn't need the NICU. What are your recommendations for OB/GYNs and hospitals in the Tampa area? I am only 9 weeks, so I still have some time to finalize my decision.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for all the advice! I feel so much better knowing there is a NICU. A co-worker told me Tampa General was the only one in the area that had one - shame on me for not researching it more! I am going to Carrollwood OB/GYN and I like them so far. Thank you so much for your advice!

St. Joseph's is the best in Tampa and also in Florida. If you google it, you can find the best articles and awards they have been awarded for within last couple of years etc. Good Luck! PS. I had delivered my Daughter there 21months ago.

St. Joseph's Women's Hospital is one of the best around. I had both my children there. They treat you great and they do have a NICU there. My daughter was born 6 weeks early and she was in the NICU for a couple of weeks. They all work with you to get your insurance up to date with the birth so your insurance can kick in and do what they have to do. My OB/GYN is Tampa Bay Women's Center on Habana in Tampa. I now live in Brandon but I still go to them and still had my baby in Tampa at St. Josephs.

Dr. Wilkerson at Insignia Care was my OB/GYN for many years & his entire group is wonderful. They deliver at St. Joe's & maybe UCH? St. Joe's was wonderful. Best of luck -

I had my daughter at St. Joseph's and had a great experience. She didn't have to go to the NICU, but they do have an excellent NICU if necessary. If you go on the tour of the facility you will see where the NICU is located in comparison to the baby nursery and all the rooms. Dr. Reichman was also my OB/Gyn and I cannot say enough wonderful things about her!! If I have another child, she will be delivering that one too! She is top notch!!!

K.,

Congrats on baby #2! I delivered my oldest (she's 4) at St. Joseph's Women's. I had a c-section and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The room was very large and accomodating and the staff was amazing! Best of luck!

Who told you there is no NICU?? There most definitely is. It is in the women's hospital, not across the street. Someone posted a link that has all the info. I had both of my children there, the latest one 4 months ago. It is a very nice hospital. My OB was Dr. Reichman and she is AWESOME! Her office is actually in the hospital so I felt really comfortable there by the time my babies were born. She's even been featured on Discovery Health's "Babies: Special Delivery" show.

Hi K. :)

I am 25 weeks pregnant with twins. I had my first at St Joeseph's (she was 35 weeks) and loved it. With these two having some high risk problems I researched almost all they gyn's there and at Tampa General. Both St Joe's and TGH (tampa General Hospital) are comparable for their NICU's. There is a machine at TGH that St Joe's doesn't have and if needed your baby will be flown there or all children's. What dr are you planning on. I know some excellent dr there.

Hi. I just delivered at St. Joe's 5 weeks ago. Several friends have delivered there too. I would definitely go back for our next child. St. Joseph's does have a NICU and has both level II & III. Here is a link. http://www.sjbhealth.org/body_womens.cfm?id=772

Actually, St. Joe's has a NICU in their Children's Hospital. It is across the street from the Women's Hospital. I have never heard anything but great things about St. Joe's. That is where I plan to have my next baby when the time comes.
