I LOVED nebraska Methodist Hospital that also partners with Chidlren's. They treated me and my baby wonderfully.
I am pregnant with my second child and I haven't delivered in Omaha before. Can anyone tell me which hospitals they prefer to deliver at? I have had a few suggestions, but nothing solid. Thanks!

Hi E.:
Congrats! I highly recommend Methodist Hospital on Dodge. It's located right next to Children's Hospital, so should there be any complications experts are standing by. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable and the facility is very clean and nice.
Best of luck to you!
Our son was delivered at Methodist and ended up at Children's which was great because he was still in the same hospital; just on a different floor. We are expecting our 2nd and will be delivering at Methodist again.
I delivered my first child 4 years ago @ Bergan Mercy and did not have a great experience. I delivered my second child 7 months ago at Lakeside Hospital and loved it!! The nurses were incredible and helped me so much. I had a great experience there.
Depending on what you are looking for, I loved the midwifery programs at UNMC and Methodist. Both hospitals were great about letting me do what I wanted during labor and delivery. I didnt require an epidural, so I cant comment on that.
Good luck and congratulations on the upcoming birth of your new baby!!

I love the midwifery program at UNMC. It was awesome. The rooms are great, the food is excellent and everyone is very kind.
Hi there E. ~ I just had my first baby on aug 2nd, and I had him at Methodist Hospital. I am a nursing student at Methodist College of nursing, so I thought I would have great care there, since I am up there a lot for my clinical time. I have to tell you I had the worst experience ever!! I was induced on wed. aug 2nd. So my husband and I arrived at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. and I had my son at 11:41 p.m. During that time we must of had 8 different nurses taking care of me. All of them except one were very rude, and very impatient!! Then after I had my son, my husband and I had to wait upstairs in our birthing room, for 4 hours, then they proceded to take us downstairs to a room that was so small we couldnt even keep our rocking chair in our room, cause it was so small. You dont get to birth in the same room, it was just horrible.. And since I have had him, I have heard this from other mom's many times too. I would suggest the UNMC, you can deliver and stay in the same room the whole time, and I have heard nothing but good things about that hospital. Hope this helps you make your choice!! ~ M.
I am pregnant with my 4th right now and due to deliver on friday. I have delivered at Bergan Mercy for all of mine. I am happy with the care I receive there and if there are any problems there is an infants ICU right in the hospital. I hope this helps.
Hello,
I have two children they were both delivered at Bergan Mercy Hospital. I was very happy with the service during my stay, all the staff was so kind and caring, they were willing to do anything to make you feel comfortable. We live further away from Bergan Mercy now but, if we have a 3rd child, we will definately make that drive to Bergan Mercy for the delivery.
Hope this helps,
L.
Hi E.- I am also due with my second child and will be delivering at Bergan Mercy just like with my first child. I enjoyed delivering there as it was close to my doctor, the staff wasn't too pushy, but was helpful and let me decide if I wanted to keep my baby with me at nights or not.
Also, not that this is that helpful, but I have heard some negative things about Methodist when it has come to delivering babies.
I am a CNA and float between all of the four alegent hospitals in omaha and one in council bluffs. Not to play favorites, but by far my suggestion is Bergan Mercy. I hate to even say this since I work there, but I'd stay away from Lakeside. They are very new and very beautiful but do not have full NICU capabilities. I think this is important just as a precaution. Bergan is wonderful all the way around including great staff. I have three boys one born at Methodist, one at Chreighton and the other at Bergan. I would recommend Bergan to anyone asking and would definitely return there as a patient.
We had a very good experience at Methodist Hospital.

I delivered at Lakeside last year and loved it! Wonderful facility and the staff was great! I knew I was in good hands during and after delivery!
I have had friends who have delivered at other Omaha hosptials and they have all had good experiances...I guess you probably can't go wrong...but the private bath with a whirlpool tub in every recovery room and most delivery rooms at Lakeside was a plus...
Best of Luck to you!

Not that I am partial, I work at the Nebraska Medical Center, but I just in December had my first child at Clarkson. Very private and you stay in the same room start to finish. The nurses are wonderful!!! And 24 hour room service!!! I work in Food service can you tell :)
I delivered at Bergan Mercy in June. I had a wonderful experience there. The staff was attentive and accomodating(I have a 2 yr old and 5 yr old and I'm new to the area). I would refer this hospital by far. I toured Methodist as well as Bergan and I found Bergan to be more personal.

Bergan Mercy is an amazing place! They were really great with all three of my babies. They have great nursing staff, good food service (for a hospital), and are good with having your older child hang around (and they have snacks for them in the lounge!). Most importantly they have a great perinatology team on site if (I'm sure it won't) you have complications. They also have the best NICU around if there are any complications with the baby. I know you've gotten a lot of info. from me and others. You should visit the hospitials and you'll get a feel for what's best for you! G.
