My mother always had white carpet and you can mix half peroxide and half water and dap it on. You may have to reapply but it will eventually bleach the spot out.

I have found that Resolve works. I prefer to get the extra strength however the normal strength will work too.

I agree with the lady who recommended Goo Gone. I have taken out hair removal wax that I had covered with a rug for over a year and a dry erase marker (permanent when on any surface other than a dry erase board!).
I was amazed at the bright purple wax coming out of the carpet...and let me just mention this wasn't a little speck of wax. The wax had spilled and sat for several minutes before my daughters worked up the nerve to come tell me. It was so hard that I couldn't believe anything would take it out! I sprayed the area for several days and just let it set. After about 5 days I scrapped (more like chiseled) the top layer of wax off and then worked on the bottom layer with a damp towel...IT ALL CAME OFF! After that I tried it on the year old dry erase mark and with little effort it came off as well.
Must've worked really well because when we bought our new house and moved from that one we actually got our deposit back! Good Luck

In my Consumer Reports "How To Clean Practically Anything Book", it gives two suggestions for ink. It says to blot using Rubbing Alcohol or you can use a detergent solution of 1 tsp clear or white neutral dishwashing liquid (containing no alkalis or bleach) in 1 cup of warm water. Keep switching to a clean spot on the towel as you blot. When the ink is gone, rinse. I haven't tried this, but I have tried other stuff in this book and it always seems to work. Good luck!

My carpet guy gave me this tip and I used it on a 6 month old red stain and it worked great! Spray some windex on the carpet then get a damp towel, place it over the spot and use a hot iron over it. The windex has amonia in it which lifts stains and the hot towel and iron "steam" clean the carpet. Good luck!

My son wrote in purple Sharpie marker on our tan carpet when he was 18 months old. We used Folex carpet cleaner and believe it or not - it came out! There is still a VERY vague ting of pink, but honestly I have to point it out to everyone or they don't notice it at all. I had Travis Carpet Cleaners come out afterwards to make sure that all of the residue came out of the carpet after I got the initial stains out. Travis is the absolute BEST carpet cleaners EVER! He is such a nice guy and does a GREAT job and is very inexpensive! His phone number is ###-###-####. Good luck!

Spot Shot carpet cleaner. be careful not to spray it too close to the area, though, as it has a tnedency to come out very very forcefully and spurt back up into the ayes. Works great on almost everything. ( it's In a blue and orange can)
