There is nothing worse than seeing or knowing of hungry children. If you will send me her address via private, I'll see if I can't get a gift card to a grocery store. It breaks my heart!
Hi i have a neighbor who is currently a single mom with 6 dependent children (total of 8 kids) ranging in age from 18 mo to early 20's. She just separated from her husband and has no income (he was disabled so his income was low to begin with). She had her daughter deliver a note to my house complete with ATM card asking to buy her some groceries as her pantry was bare. Her card had $13 on it. I bought $17 worth of food, paying for the difference out of pocket and now I'm trying to find out if there is a food pantry I can recommend that she go to in the area. I'd really like to just go buy her a ton of food but we are struggling with two house payments and 3 kids of our own. I honestly can't afford to feed her and her children. Heck the diesel my truck sucked down getting to the grocery store stressed me out. Does anyone have any ideas of places I can refer her to?
Thanks in advance
pat

Try www.namonline.org - Northwest assistance ministries on Kuykendahl is probably the closest and they have lots of services. Good luck and thanks for helping your neighbors.
Northwest Assistance Ministries has all kinds of help for her including a food pantry. Goodwill is also a good resource. The catholic church has many charitible programs. But send her to NAM on Kuykendahl just south of FM1960 West.
St Anthony of Padua in the woodlands has a food panty so does interfaith up here. I know interfaith is also having a school supply assistance soon that she can use for the kids.

Mission Statement
The mission of Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) is to strive to meet basic human needs through Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
Description
Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) is a grassroots, non-profit, community-based, multi-program social service established in 1983. NAM consists of an interfaith coalition of covenant congregations, affiliate organizations, and business neighbors. Guided by a small staff, more than 2,000 volunteers work together to provide a variety of basic services to our neighbors in need in NorthwestHarrisCounty and throughout the greater Houston area. More than 50% of those helped by this effort are children. NAM is proud that approximately $.89 of every $1.00 raised goes directly into community services.
Interfaith in The Woodlands has a food pantry. She can also contact Fellowship of the Woodlands church for help.

I don't know how far away y'all are but there is a place called SAM's that Smith Elementary gives coats and jackets and food to during the school year. I am not sure if they have more then one location or not. I think they are at Aldine West-field and Trailing Vine.

You can search for nearest location. They have packaged month's worth of groceries/food to be picked up all for about (I believe) $25-30. Look on the above website to see what kind of food is available each month because it varies.
Carol,
There are plenty of churches in the area who give out monthly food help. I go to Price of Peacre at 249 and Perry Road. She can get assistance there. There is also NAM (Northwest Assistance Ministries). If she wants to earn some $$, she can call me at ###-###-#### to get her own business started. Hope this helps.

Brentwood Church has a food pantry. Call ###-###-####, the main number. They can transfer you to the right person. It is open on Tuesday as far as I know.
You can refer your neighbor to NAM (Northwest Assitance Ministry) in Spring off 1960 and Kuykendahl. They have a food pantry, and from what you say about her situation sounds like she will qualify. www.namonline.org
She's lucky to have you for a neighbor! I know that WoodsEdge church in The Woodlands (Woodlands Parkway and Panther Creek) has a free food pantry and free clothing pantry open to the public twice a week. You can call them at ###-###-#### or email my friend Marcia who works with the program at ____@____.com take orders/requests via phone/email and gather bags and leave them at the church for the people to pick up.
Also, there is Interfaith here in The Woodlands that has a pantry associated with it.
