We are getting a new puppy!! It will be a male boxer, just shy of 16wks old. We have a female boxer/shephard mix and her name is Fiona--My son was 2 when we got her & he named her Fiona because he spent the weekend watching Shrek at Gramma's house!! Anyways, we want to give this boy a "stronger" name! Problem is, we can't think of ANYTHING!! Does anyone have any suggestions for me???
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Since he's a boxer, what about going with a famous boxer's name (play off of that for fun)? Ali?

Also, we had the world's greatest family dog and his name was Daniel.

my dog's name is Sherman. my neighbors is Catcher, my sisters dog is Fred and Bomber (it's a girl but the found it on the Navy bombing range). my other sisters dog was Jackson. if you want something to go with Fiona, look up Irish baby names or some such thing. I like Seamus, Liam, Oliver (not irish i guess).

How about THOR...it doesn't come any stronger than this and I think it would be an adorable oxymoron on a puppy!

My daughter and I were talking the other day and we thought it would be hilarious to name our next dog... a regular peron name like
Steve or Phil or Dave...lol!
Also have you seen the Ultimate Dog Tease on You Tube?

Lol I am such a nerd when It comes to dog names, my current mutts are Constantine ( he is a pit/rot mix) & louie vuitton ( he is a chi/jack russel mix) we also had a super mutt named phil ( and it was a she)
It took us days for us to name the Constantine, the other 2 were easy. I actually have no idea where I even heard the name Constantine before we named him ( he was named before the guy was on american idol) good luck!

Well, we just got a new puppy and had a hard time too. It seemed like all the names that we liked were currently being used by other dogs that we knew. Names that are fun for dogs are: Bear, Ruger, Max, Sam, Remington, Buddy. We are avid hunters and have guns so we decided that our new puppy's name would be Benelli and we call him Ben (he is registered so on his papers it will be Benelli). Sometimes it helps to see the puppy too before you decide on a name. Hope that this helps.

My dog's name growing up was Thor, God of thunder and lightning. I always thought that was a real strong name. Although, he was a Norweigan Elkhound, so it really fit. My husband's dog's name was Zeke. I like Zeus too.

There was a website for Boxer dog names, I thought Mr T was funny. Also there is General ( 101 Dalmatians ) Duke, Caesar, Mark Antony (Roman names always sound strong ), Zeus, Apollo. You could look up German names to honor his heritage.
Sometimes when you meet your puppy they may just name their self. Also keep in mind that you will say this name 100 times a day so simple is good, a name will also form how strangers will perceive him, and many Boxers ( least all the ones I have meet when grooming ect ) are not rough and tough, but great lovers and a bit of clown.
Best of wishes and luck with your new puppy.

I like Hercules, Zeus, Thor (fun if your son now likes super heroes), and Triton. I really like "fancy" people names for pets, like Jackson/Jack, Alexander, Julius, Theodore/Teddy and Maximus/Max. Sugar Ray would be cute! My son wants to name a dog Biscuit lol.

Let us know what you pick :) congrats on the new puppy!

Dogs respond best to short hard syllables. Preferably 2 syllables. Something like:
Rocko
Fido
Mojo
Pico
VooDoo
Hulu

Softer sounds, like ones that end in "a" are less preferable.

I love the name Jack. It's a good name to yell really loud when he's naughty, but when he's being a good boy you can call him Jack-y
