Hi. My daughter is only two and half years old, but I have started thinking about Pre K. Time goes so fast and I don't want to wait till the last minute. How do I go about the process of getting her started? Also, do they provide transportation? Any information will be appreciated.

What can I do next?

J.,
We just started our 4 1/2 year old son in Pre-K at Woodward Academy in Duluth. We are thrilled with the program. If you are considering private school, give it a consideration. You have to drive them.

J.,
I just moved here and I found the best pre-school for my son. Winters Chapel United Methodist church in Norcross but I have found that Churchs have the best Mothers Morning out and Pre-schools around unless you want full time. I have three children two daughters 22 and 17 they live and go to school in Macon where we just relocated from and I have a three year old son. I am 41 and I stay home with my son right now. Let me know if you want to discuss further. My e-mail is ____@____.com this was helpful. C.

My oldest daughter (4) just started a GA Pre-K program here in Alpharetta. I think it is great! I compared it to some private Pre-K curriculums, and they are basically the same. My email address is ____@____.com if you would like more info on the school my daughter is enrolled in. She goes 8:30-3:30, M-F. The tuition is free, but we pay around $150 a month for lunches that are catered in.
It's true, that the spots do go fast, so you are smart by doing research early. Around Jan or Feb of the school year, contact the school that you want to enroll your child. THey usually will put you on a list and then contact you in the Spring if you can get in.
I have not heard of any schools providing transportation.
If I can answer any other questions for you, please let me know! I will be happy to help.

most of the day care centers offer the FREE ga lottery funded pre-k program. problem is - if your not currently enrolled in the day care program you will have a hard time getting a spot. the children in the day care program get 1st chance at the spots. my daughter went and it was great but we were enrolled in the day care center since i work full time. they follow the same schedule as the public schools. starts at 8:30am. finishes at 3:30pm. off on holidays and teacher work days. transportation is not provided. if you have any more questions feel free to email me.

My children, ages 3 and 4, both attend Lyndon Academy in Woodstock. I live in east Cobb and it is not very far. I absolutely thrilled with the program. My 3 year old can read and write all her letters and speak beginning Spanish. They both had attended Montessori before and I have to say, Lyndon is thr best I have seen.
