Help with Permanent Marker

Hi I have a question for a friend of mine. Her 5 yr old son took permanent marker and wrote not only the walls (which she got the marks off) but decided to write on his 2 yr old sisters face. Any ideas on how to get it off her face would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

I had great luck with hairspray when my daughter (2 1/2)found a permanent marker and wrote on her face and hair. She has very sensitive skin and had no reactions when I cleaned her off. It also worked when she got ball point pen on her and her favorite blankie when nothing else seemes to do it.

I don't have an answer but saw that someone responded to try a magic eraser. I've seen lots of warnings about NOT using one of those on skin, so I would not do that!

wow did this bring back the memories! lol. defanitly got a good laugh thinking of it.
my oldest (3 at the time) did this to my 3 month old son. it was right after halloween and he was dressing them up to go trick or treating. it was all over his face and hands! the only thing i used was soap and water and with in a couple of days it faded. hopefully others have found something to take it off right away, so she doesn't have to explain to everyone why its all over her. but for most when they seen the two kids together the mom's would laugh and say i remember that happening to me also! the joys of motherhood.

what ever you do DO NOT use the magic eraser on the little one! it will cause chemical burns! it even says it right on the package it comes in.

good luck with it! she will have to let you know what worked best.. now that i have two little ones again, i can see it happening once again and i will know what worked best!

I hope they see past the naughty and take a picture for the album! That will be funny later.
I think it just has to wear off skin.

Try Toothpaste... one time a theatre buddy drew with permanent marker all over my arm, I thought it was a washable marker. So I freaked but someone told me to use toothpaste and it will come off. It did work, I believe it is the baking soda so you can also try and make a paste if you don't want to use toothpaste.

Try vinegar. Whatever you do DON'T use Mr. Clean Magic wipes.

Eye makeup remover (I have specifically used Avon) works well to get permanent marker off of skin.

I would only use Solumel from Melaleuca. It has the highest grade tea tree oil in it and has naturally derived cleaners rather than harsh chemicals. It works wonders on permanent marker, crayon and nail polish. You can also buy it online at wholesale when a friend refers you. I would be willing to send you a little if you want also. I could get it in the mail today.

Slather vaseline on it, let sit for a while (maybe while she's in the bath), the gently wipe off with washcloth (preferably a textured one).

try putting vegetable oil directly on the mark on the skin, wait a few seconds and wipe with a soft cloth. It may takes a few attemps but it worked for me every time it has happened to my kids

Try sunscreen. I discovered it by accident. This happened to my 2 year old and I tried everything to get it off (including rubbing alchohol and several baths). It was summer and she wanted to go out to play. I put the sunscreen on her as usual(it was a cream sunblock with spf of 45, don't recall brand). It took about an hour but the marker just vanished. Hope it works for you.

When I read this, I was expecting it to be on furniture or something.
When I saw the first response, I gasped... PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT USE MAGIC ERASER on this boy's skin. It will cause chemical burns! I received an e-mail once about it. Go to snopes.com if you want to find out more on that case.
As far as what I may try... what about the bar soaps like "lava" or the such that have that grit to it to help remove oil, paints, and the such?. I think I would try that. If you're concerned about the grit in the soap, maybe a baby wipe may get some off (not sure if it would get it all)... it got lipstick out of my SIL's wedding dress. Worth the try.
I am curious about this answer also. I did a google search for you and found this site for you. http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf228232.tip.html One person said a banana... I wonder how that works?
I'll be interested in what works for you. Keep us posted.
Good luck,
~SR

I never had this happen but think the arm and hammer white magic eraser pad might work or maybe alcohol.
