Help with Naming Second Baby

A., what fun a second daughter. Congratulations! I picked my children's names from the meaning of the names as well as how I liked them and they flowed together. So not knowing the meaning of these, I like Tatum Celine or Gillian Claire (this one may cause spelling issues). You are very brave asking for help with this. Have a safe and healthy delivery, K.

I like Gillian Claire. A lot of names that sound "cute" when children are little don't sound so great when they are older.

I like Libby Sue the best. But I also like the name Claire. You have a tough choice to make. I think its neat that you are asking strangers their opinion. Perhaps will confuse you more than you already were. Lol.

Gillian Claire for sure! But, I would spell it with a J.
Jillian or Jillienne Claire.

Wow, it is amazing how much we put into naming our children. Names (words) have a very specific sound vibration and we really want that to match ourselves as well as our offspring. Picking 2 and saying them outloud over and over helps you to tell if that works for you. When you see your child see which of the sets of vibrations works best with the child and in that way you will have a name that matches your child. For the record I, also, love Gillian (or Jillian) Claire.

I like Tatum Celine and Gillian not Claire (Gillian is cute and the name Claire seems old) however its should be what you like best. Look up the meaning of the names as well, it should give you more peace in your decision.

If you are a Christian than this will not offend you. God tells us to pick a good name. I would research the meaning of the names.

I like the name Lola and Celine. Why not Lola Celine or Libby Celine. Just a suggestion.

My vote is Gillian Claire or Lola Jane (in that order).

I think Tatum Celine is very pretty.

Gillian Claire - great name!

I think I'd go with a more traditional first name - Elizabeth, for example - can be Libby, but she can practice law (or whatever) as Beth, Elizabeth, Liz - not just Libby.

Lola - Lolita?
Tatum sounds like a boy's name, although I've seen it on a few girls.
Gillian - Gilligan?

Kids are cruel.

ETA: /J/illian is probably my favorite. I'd spell it with a J, too though.

I think I am old but the other names make me think of different things...like Tatum O'Neil, Celine Dion, Libby Soup, May Dept Stores, Me Tarzan You Jane, etc...

Good luck...we actually chose our 2nd daughter's first name, Zoe and then were stuck on the second name, we loved Zoe Grace but then we met a waitress at Texas Roadhouse, and she had just become an aunt of a girl named Madison...my husband and I looked at each other and it happened...we decided on Zoe Madison.

I like Tatum, but not paired with Celine. My favorite of your choices are Gillian Claire. (We are having our 2nd this week and we are naming her Caitlyn Parker. Our first is Meredith Ramsey - just to give you a peek into my taste.) Remember it is a very important decision because you will have to hear and say that name millions of times in your life. I wouldn't worry much about what anyone else thinks, but spend lots of time saying the names out loud and deciding which one you love. If all else fails, wait and see which name you think she looks like when she is born.

for all 3 for our children, when we found their name it was odvious! there wasnt a debate or anything! we knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that was what it was supose to be! if you are not sure about any of them i say scrap them all and try again

I love the name Lola, it was my grandmother's name. Her full name was Lola Mae. I like the combination of Lola Claire. I know that wasn't one of the choices, so hope to not add confusion. I also love the name Emily put with Claire. You have chosen old names and I think that is so great! Good Luck and congratulations with your baby.

I like them in the exact reverse order of the way you listed them, but you are the ones who will have to live with what you choose, so you need to make the final decision!

I'm partial to Tatum Celine. My grandmother's name was Celine and she and I were very close. I also like Tatum. Both are very strong, but beautiful names. Good luck and congratulations!

When expecting our second child, my husband and I had trouble picking a name So we would call it one name for a week or so, and then try a different one. Right away we would seem to discard one, although we still liked the name it just didn't sound right for our baby. You may try this and see if any of the names are eliminated. Of course if you are about to deliver this won't help.ha

I like Gillian Claire. These were both on my girl name list, but we are having another boy so I have the same issue with the boy name!! Good luck.

I agree with some of the other posters -- Tatum is cute but doesn't seem to go with Celine (works better with Claire). I like Gillian Claire the best! When I hear Lola, I hear the Barry Manilow song in my head.

All names except the Libby ones are akward and hard to say. They are cute individually but coupled they are a bit of a tongue twister.

I am very attracted to Libby May. It is unpretentious. I would even say it completely when talking to the new one. It flows and evokes warmth and comfort. I would want to sit and play with ms. Libby May eveyday. :-)

I like Gillian Claire the best. My five-week old is named Elizabeth Joy and we call her Libby. I love that name, but every time I love a name and think it is fairly uncommon, I see it in the Pottery Barn catalog! I'm guessing by the names you have in mind that you were looking for uncommon names.

gillian is cool & tatum is good. I like names that kids can find on key rings & stuff. It sucks not to be able to get things with your name on it as a kid.

When we had trouble picking out our third child's name, I listened to the way her older brothers said them...we liked them all anyway thus the problem picking, so we went with the name that sounded the cutest coming out of their young mouths (Jacob Matthew is 5, Christopher "topher" Andrew is 3, and Allyson Susan is 10 months)...plus they felt involved which I think is important.

I have never heard of Tatum before? Does it have a special meaning to it?

You need to decide for yourself. Who cares what anyone else thinks or likes or dislikes. Not one person knew any of our 4 childrens names until they were born. Drove my mom crazy though! I wouldn't have it any other way. Think about it- do you really want to know what your friends and family think about your names. They are smart to stay quiet!

First of all, good luck with your decision and congratulations on your baby!

Next, a previous responder had vetoed Libby and GIllian as too common. However, if you check the popularity of all 4 names on SSA.gov (which is the social security websites and should be considered the most comprehensive and correct list because everyone has to get a ssn) tatum and lola are much more popular than the other two.

However, I really like Tatum and Gillian, possibly Tatum would be better with Claire. I know Lola is popular right now especially in Hollywood, but most of the people we know still said "sounds like s stripper" when an acquaintance named their new daughter this a few months ago. I did like the suggestion of listening to how your older child says the name you want to use and letting them have a voice in the baby's name. Good luck and let us know your decision!

Everyone has something that comes to mind when they first hear a name... for me, Lola is a friend of mine's cat's name, and Libby makes me think of canned pumpkin:)

Lola is a name with connotations--not ones that you want to put into people's heads. Libby is darling and Gillian Claire is a good combo--why are you spelling Gillian with a G? Normally it is a J--think about how names work in the future--will she be continually correcting her name spelling? Or worse--the pronunciation? Tatum will make everyone think of Tatum ONeal--is that someone you admire? If so--cool. Names are so important!

Tatum Celine or Gillian Claire either would be a cute name. We have 4 kids and the process we went through was thinking of how kids could make fun of their names (because it will happen when they get older!!). Your best bet is to try the nick names people will call her, then start eliminating the names from that. Hope that helps.

Tatum Celine would be my choice from your selection. But you need to pick the one you are most comfortable with using. Try haveing conversations for a day with each name with your unborn child and see which one you really like the best. Good luck.

Lola Jane is too cute! And it sounds spunky and flows nicely together. Gillian Claire is lovely also. A little more formal, some might call her gill for short so you have to think about that. But it also flows well. We have one son, Oliver Edan, age 8. So I love to think about girl names! Thanks for sharing the opportunity!

My only advice to you is to think about how it will sound when she walks across the stage and receives her degrees.
