I need some suggestions for my 6 yr old bday party.
It' in a gym and for the girls I found these cute pom poms. Should I add anything else as it seems incomplete :)
For the boys i could not think of anything related to the same theme so I bought Cowboy hats and fake moustache ...but still needs some addition. THANKS

http://www.orientaltrading.com has cute themed goodies - my daughters got these cute little cheerleader bears in a goody bag from a friend's cheer party (tried posting a link but it didn't work - the item is IN-6/1357, Plush Cheerleader Bears, $14.99 Per Dozen)

I think you have enough but if you want to add more:
For the boys - fake plastic sheriff badges
For the girls - mini purses, lip gloss or fuzzy colorful scarves.
Mini puzzles, bubbles etc.
Throw in a little candy and call it a day.

Goody bags are overated and often tossed soon after the party since the items are cheap. However, if you are concerned you might want to check Oriental Trader for some small sports balls, which would be fun for girls or boys. If the gym would allow them, super bounce balls would be a blast for the kids to play with during the party and take home too.

Kids usually get too much candy and sweets at parties, so maybe go with some sugar free gum from the Dollar Tree or chips or some other kind of snack. Some of the sugar free gums actually help break down sugar left on the teeth from sweets so that's a great treat to hand out at the end of the party. Have fun and don't put too much time or money into the goodies...it's the friendship and experience that counts!

Greetings S.: I am the parent of 5 children and now the grandparent of several cuties.
I have given and attended several parties in my years. I have also had to toss out things that were in goodie bags, because it was way to much stuf for my child- who seems to have had alot already!
With so many parents having money trouble now from job loss. I suggest that you keep it simple!!
If you wish to add more than you have already then put in a couple of dimes. To a 6 year old dimes are alot of money and great fun, bubbles are alot of fun as well, or a piece of fruit. But the thing that I got recently when I took a grandchild to a party was the idea that I appreciate the most.
The parents took pictures of the birthday child, and the guest. Then they had a family member while the party was going on download them and print it so that each child got a picture. What a great way to remember the friend, and party. If you don't want to do this while the party is going on then you send the picture along with a ThankYOu note for the gift or for just having come to the party.
The idea of the" goodie bag", is not to fill a shopping ba but a small and simple item.
Good Luck, and have fun with the party, Nana G

Hi,
I wouldn't ad anything... just keep the pompoms out of any bag, tie them together with some nice flashy ribbons and attach a thank you note. You can do something similar with the boys... This way, you don't even have to send any thank you's later on:)
Happy Birthday!

Im having my son's 4th birthday at a gym as well. I have more girls them boys attending. I noticed going to other kids birthday parties at a gym they are so busy running around that the goody bags were given at the end of the party and having a prop I think might be too much. My son got those punching balloons with his goody bag as he was leaving the party. I understand your son is older so maybe boas (sp?) for the girls and I saw these cute foam top hats at Michaels that were cute but in the end they will probably get left behind and to me that is a waste of money. Maybe give those items as a favor at the end of the party. Good luck and have fun.

I just wanted to say that goodie bags and their contents are often disposed of pretty quickly. Especially if it is a bunch a junk - toy yo-yo's, plastic this and that. Pom-poms are pretty cool and those alone are sufficient. Cowboy hats are also a neat thing. Don't worry about adding additional items. It might seem scanty to you (as an adult) but it will be enough for the kids.

What you have is enough. Tie the pom poms with some cute ribbon and call it a day! It's easy and fun for the kids! What you have for the boys are fine, too. Both boys and girls will love what you have for them. Nothing more is needed. : )
