I don't think my 9 month old has ever really eaten baby food. We tried a few jars and she just didn't want it. She eats like us. She has teeth, so she gets waffles, toast, fruit, yogurt and/or cheerios for breakfast. For lunch and dinner she usually has cheese, yogurt, small cut up turkety or chicken, fruit, veggies, soup, mac and cheese, and/or bread. My theory is if you cut it up small enough (if they don't have teeth) it really is no different than baby food. And, like the other mom said, "baby food is not a requirement". My first daughter never really eat baby food and now at 4.5 she loves (cooked) sushi, salad, fruits and raw veggies, corn and many things a child doesn't normally try simply because we never made special meals, she ate what we ate or some modified version. (She doesn't like cooked veggies so I just leave a few raw ones out before I cook ours)
Good Luck
