My current birth control pill seems to have contributed to age spots on my forehead and cheekbones (melasma, per the dermatologist...no, I'm not pregnant). The dr. prescribed me a VERY expensive cream and I will start a different birth control pill next cycle but I was wondering if anyone had tried anything less expensive to diminish age spots.

I agree with the previous poster...try the Mary Kay. I'm not a consultant, I don't care for Mary Kay's makeup, but I love all their skin care products. I've used Murad's age spot lightening gel and it was ok and very expensive!!! Try the Mary Kay, you may be pleasantly surprised.

The dermatologist can use a little laser to "zap" the dark spots. That is by far the best way to take care of them in my experience. It works instantly (your skin does have to heal a bit, but it's more like a teeny-tiny sunburn). Last time I did it, somehow he got my insurance to pay for it (!).

Be careful...a lot of skin care products and makeup have chemicals that aren't very good for you and can do more harm in the long run (there was recently a large article in our local paper and several news reports). I would suggest Sei Bella products because they are non-toxic and fully guaranteed.

Have you tried Aveeno Positively Radiant face wash? I like it and it evens out tone. Not sure if it would work on age spots. Might be worth a week or two try.

Do you have a Mary Kay consultant? Mary Kay has a wonderful product called Even Complexion Mask (and it couples with another product called Even Complexion Essence). My daughter had very mottled skin on her forehead and started using these products..... just a few months later, her skin tone is very even with no patches of darkness. Now, I know that not all people will have the same result, but it could be worth a try ;)

***Disclaimer: I am a consultant, but my daughter won't try anything I suggest ;)***
