Our family is hoping to find some great ideas for vacation days this summer in the greater Cincinnati area. We have boys 11, 8 and 2 years old. We love the Cincinnati Museum Center, King's Island, and the Cincinnati Zoo, but since we have memberships to these places, they are all rather routine trips. For a change we like Highfield Discovery Garden, and Khron's Conservatory butterfly exhibit, and walking along Sawyer Point and the Purple People Bridge and Newport Aquarium. I'm looking for new ideas in this awesome city. I was thinking of canoeing at Winton Woods, and playing at Parky's Farm for the little guy. The big guys would love to try LaserWeb or LaserCraze. We have never been to WrightPat in Dayton, but hear it is good... we have gone to all the Children's museum in a 2 hour radius. But I bet there are a hundred other great places in Cincy to explore that I'm not thinking of. What are your favorite things to do on a family day/date? Thanks for all your ideas, Mamas!

What can I do next?

Cincinnati is such an amazing city with so much to do. My friend and I have been doing something different every Tuesday of every summer for the last 7 years. We have found so much to do! Have you been to the Loveland Castle? (a REAL castle on the river) SunWatch Indian Village in Dayton? (Excavated and rebuilt Indian Village and museum to explore) Warren County History Center in Lebanon? (Amazing little museum with lots of local history) How about Trammel Fossil Park in Sharonville? (more fossils than you can imagine) Or the Fire Museum downtown? (Great fun to see the history of firefighting and slide down the fire pole and turn the sirens on in the real fire truck cab!)

My friend and I put all our ideas (over 80 places w/in two hours of downtown) into a book that was just published. Its called Adventures Around Cincinnati: A Parent's Guide to Unique and Memorable Places to Explore with your Kids. The book gives inside tips on each location so that you will know what to expect when you get to each destination. It also suggests tips on how to plan more adventures into your life. We've created some amazing memories with our kids by going on Adventures and hope the book will help families take some Adventures of their own and find some awesome things to do in Cincinnati. The book has maps with each location on them and a category table to help you find the perfect activity to interest your family.

Its Available at Barnes & Noble (Fields Ertel), Book Bums in West Chester, Busy Bee Boutique in Loveland, Christopher Geroge Salon in Milford, Behringer Crawford Museum in Devou Park and Amazon.com.

Good luck, let me know if you have questions about any of the ideas I suggested!

The great wolf lodge is next to kings island, and is really a fun day trip! The kids will absolutely love it.

The enterTRAINment junction is in West Chester and has LOTS of activities. They have so much to do you could spend 8 hours there.

Coney Island

Cosi is in Columbus, about 90 minutes, maybe further than you were wanting... But was a fun day trip.

Mamouth Cave in KY.

Youngs Dairy Farm

Thats all I can think of right now.....

Someone else mentioned Entertrainment Junction and our kids had fun there. Also The Beach Waterpark which is right across 71 from Kings Island looks fun too although we haven't been there yet.
