Hi Moms!

I am currently pregnant with my third baby and we are having a girl. I already have two boys and it has been decided to have a baby party, so we can get the girl stuff. Since it is a baby party and not just a shower we will have a bigger crowd and we have no idea what to serve. We want something simple that can be done outside, that is not going to cost a bundle to serve. We were thinking grilling but then that could cost more and people can be picky about that. Any ideas would be awesome! Thanks in advance Moms!

Sloppy joes, veggie tray, big macaroni or potato salad.... easy and easy for them to serve themselves. You can slowcook the sloppy joes in crock and then take it outside....
have fun!

Congrats on the girl. I have two boys as well and hoping when we try again I get my little girl! Anyway, anytime we ever had a party at our hosue we always just get sandwich trays from sams club. It is $38 a tray and I think it feeds 19. Then we do the sides and add some water and soda and a cake and you are set!

I hosted a baby shower at night at 7:00 pm for a friend of mine recently. On the invites I put "Bring your favorite dessert to share if you"d like!" I wasn't serving dinner like it sounds like you are, but there's nothing wrong with a good ol' pot luck. Ask your friends to bring their favorite side dish to share and you could supply the meat. Just some ideas. There's some really cute ideas on-line if you Google "baby shower ideas" or "food for baby showers". Good luck Mama and congratulations.

I also did an anyone can come shower for my second son. We grilled, but we only had hotdogs and hamburgers. You can buy those in bulk, you most likely already have sliced cheese, and condiments in the house. I made a dish or two, and then had my mom, and a very close friend provide baked beans, and soda. I bought capri sun (which was on sale) for the kids... it came out fine and didn't cost a bundle.

Good luck!

Congratulations on your girl! For my baby shower my hosts served chicken salad sandwiches on mini cresents and had beautiful fruit and veggie trays. It was lite and refreshing. And we had a cake! You could do other types of mini sandwiches. For my daughters first birthday I had Safeway make my sandwiches and cupcake cake and I had ordered four 3 foot sandwiches and it was under 100 dollars. We made the different salads to go with it. And the cupcake cake was reasonable also but I don't remember the cost. Oh and on the subs I did 3 meat and 1 veggie, they were all the same price though. Good luck.

Hi M.,

Congrats on the baby girl!!!

I would recommend a mini sandwich tray such a turkey and croissant sandwiches etc - I think you can get these at Costco or you could even make yourself.

I also know that Jason's Deli does wonderful trays - I would recommend their fruit tray and their fruit dip is FANTASTIC - I served it for Mother's Day and everyone loved it.

Keep it simple - since it is a baby party, just do mini everything - mini sandwiches, mini desserts or even a "cupcake" cake since you will be blessed with another cupcake pretty soon.

Good luck.

M., how about bite size pig n a blanket, with toothpicks that have some kind of baby item on end. Or pizza with a relish tray. Safeway has two sizes. A case of bottle water but your own label with a game of sort written on it. Generic pop.Use empty veg. cans painted or wrapped in paper. Put candy. peanuts, flowers in each can. Think finger foods and if they don't like what you have then they don't have to eat!You can get 3 to 4 bites out of one hot dog.
Papa John's has a a special going on and Little Ceasar pizza are $5 each.
Good luck and congradulation,
D.

For my daughter, we had a family shower, so there were lots of men, women, and kids. We played one game for the men, one for the women, and one for the kids. It was a ton of fun! We barbequed hotdogs and hamburgers and also had potato salad, spinache dip, and things like that. It worked great!

I would definitely do a meat and veggie tray from WalMart, and perhaps fix a salad of some kind, like macaroni salad, or potato salad. If you want to do a kid friendly meal, I would get some mini corn dogs and cook them up a few hours ahead of time. You could also get some of those little smokies and put them in a crock pot with some BBQ sauce. :-) Chips and dip of course. OR...this would probably be a better idea, why don't you plan a POT LUCK BABY PARTY? That way everyone can pitch in with their favorite snack or easy meal?
Congrats on your baby girl!!! We're having another boy. Our second boy. :-) I wish I had my family and friends here to help me with a baby shower. I didn't get one for my first pregnancy, and it doesn't look like I'll get one for this one either. But that's ok....The gift in itself will be arriving come August!! :-)
Hope you have a great day and hope my suggestion helped ya.
Take care,
G.
