We will be having aproximately 30 people over for an after Baptism celebration. I would like some ideas of what to serve for food. It needs to be quick and easy as we will be arriving at the house the same time of the guests after the baptism. Any ideas????

What can I do next?

if you look on cooking light.com you will find a recipe for a great oven baked french toast recipe. It is so yummy and you make it the night before. Pair it with fruit and some mimosa and celebrate the day without spending the whole time in the kitchen.

Sloppy joes , pulled pork, chicken or beef sandwiches. Those go over well with the crowd and are very quick and easy to make. You make it the night before, then throw it in the crockpot before you leave for church. By the time you get home it is ready to go. Sides are various and easy, chips, veggies, fruit, pasta salad, etc.

My niece was just baptized and my sister ordered subway sandwhiches and my mom and myself made some salads so it wasn't a heavy lunch.

For my sons baptism, we did buns with ham or turkey and cheese, three different kinds of soup, three kinds of salads, and cake. I put the soups in a crock pot when I got up that morning and just let them cook while we were gone. i had the meats and cheeses on trays so all i had to do was just pull them out of the fridge and we could all eat. Good luck.

I had the same thing happen, I just got a nice table ready before we went to the baptism, and when we got home I got a little help making sure everyone got something to drink while I popped on the oven finger foods, at sams club I bought those small pizzas (Bagel bites), mozzarella cheese strips, a small tiny hamburgers, some calamari rings, and bredded srimp.
I put everything in a few big baking sheets and they were ready very fast and everyone loved them.
Hope it helps
Good Luck

I would do meat and cheeses with buns and maybe some premade pasta salads and cut up fruit or veggies. Chocolate dipped strawberries are fun, and actually not hard. You can make them the night before and then store them in the fridge until you serve them.

We had 30 people too! It was picnic food...
I did shredded beef sandwiches... made the day before (8 lbs is what I needed) and then I popped the beef in a crockpot before we went to church, put it on warm and it was good to go when we got back. I sliced buns the night before.

Best advise - DELEGATE!! With that many people they are sure to help!
I did apps - I made Spinach dip with bread and got some wraps from Sam's club.
My mom brought beverages (beer and lemonade) and watermelon
My MIL brought vegie tray and dip
My SIL made tuna salad (any pasta salad would be good...
I had some chips and dip.
My brother brought the cake - costco or sam's not sure (Kowalski's has good cake too)
You could also do a big pot of chili or sloppy joes.

You can email me if you would like the recipe for anything...

get a meat and cheese platter and fruit tray from sams, crock pot meatballs and weiners, have croisants and possible some crab salad from sams. and get mini cini rolls...again from sams or the grocery store. then all you have to do is set stuff up when you come home!

For my first son's baptism, we did an entree pasta salad (the D'Amico Turkey Dried Cherry & Almond recipe), then added some sides. No cooking involved. For our second son's baptism, we grilled out, which was nice because even though everyone was already there when we were grilling, it's a social thing and no one minds standing around the BBQ with drinks. The side dishes then were premade. I have also been to baptisms where they did the make-your-own dollar bun sandwhiches--easy, and yummy. Lastly, I like people's suggestion for slopy joes, pulled pork, etc. You could have these pre-cooked and in a crock pot to keep warm while you're gone. Then when you get home, put out all the pre-made sides, and you're ready to go.

Sounds like you are having quite the crowd, just like I did.
The easiest thing for me was to do meat and cheese trays and then get some bakery buns and we had build-your-own-sandwiches. I also had some chips, pickles, veggies and potato salad. I got my cake from Sam's Club for like $14 and it was huge! And really good too.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

I had the same amount of people after my son's baptism - and catering would break my budget. So instead, I had a huge brunch with some easy to prepare dishes that were crowd pleasers.

- Egg Bake (I did two large pans)
- Grandma Baker's Corn Casserole
- Large muffins (from Costco or Sam's Club)
- Fruit salad
- Veggie Tray
- Cheese Tray
- Cake
- Coffee and OJ
(I also made Mimosas for the adults, that's optional)

E-mail me for the Egg Bake and casserole recipes - they are family favorites. Best part is - ALL can be prepared ahead of time. The Egg Bakes and Corn dish need about an hour to an hour and a half - which should be just enough time to get back from the church. Alternately, you could also bake ahead of time most of the way early that morning, refrigerate during church, then pop back in the oven right before guests arrive to warm and finish baking. Cake I picked up from Lunds.

By the way - get Simone's D'Amico salad recipe below too - I've had it and its awesome!!

I am having about the same number over after my sons Baptism. We are doing pulled pork sandwiches, cole slaw, veggie tray, chips and dip and a pasta salad. We are going to use a crock pot for the pulled pork so it will be ready when we get back. Nothing fancy. The brunch ideas you have gotten are good too, maybe you could have a neighbor run over and put them in the oven before you get home.

With both of our kids baptisms we grilled out. We have a pretty nice grill which only takes minutes for the food to get done but while my husband would be grilling I would be getting the salads that I had made the day before and within the 1/2 hour we could start eating.

Eggs bakes, fresh fruit salad, muffins and cake. See if you can have someone stay at your home during the Baptism to bake the egg bakes. And then everything else can be done ahead of time.

We had Kowlaskis cater ours- it was simple, easy and really good. We pre-ordered everything and my mom picked it all up for us. Smooth as could be! Good luck and God bless your little one...
