I was in a car accident on Monday and when I went to see my ob on Tuesday was told I had a tear in my placenta. She put me on bedrest for two weeks and said there was nothing they could do about it except hope it heals itself. I have been having a headache since 3p.m. yesterday it is now 10p.m. I also have had stomach pains that were'nt there. Has anyone had any experience with this. I am really scared for my unborn child.

What can I do next?

I suggest that you call your doctor immediately if you are experiencing headaches and/or cramping.

My sister in law had that same thing happen from the same reason and the baby lived. He was birn at 26 weeks, two weeks after the accedent; and was quit fragile with a long hospital stay but he is a healthy toddler now. I know it is hard not to stress but try to concentrate on the fact that at this moment the baby is fine. Stress will only hurt you both. Remember you are both o.k.(you have talked to your doc?!) Rest a lot; it will get better. God is with you.

I know it is hard not to stress, but the bedrest really can work and make it better. I worked as an OB nurse for years. and God does miracles! You probably have a head ache from worry. Also the best thing to do if you have worries and questions is to ask your Dr. That is what they are there for!You are laying there and noticeing every little thing with your body right now. It is OK to be scared. That just means you love your baby! And you are normal. I hope you have some help with the bedrest, because I know that is hard with a 2 year old.
