My son is having his sixth birthday party tomorrow and two of the kids are allergic to eggs and peanuts. Does anyone know of any good packaged options that I can bring for these kids? I originally bought vegan cupcakes without nuts from a bakery but Im worried about the possibility of them having come in contact with nuts. I would feel better if I had a packaged option that was sure not to contain eggs or nuts. Thank you!

What can I do next?

I don't know if you want something packaged because it's so close to the party, but if you have a little time to spear you could make some weight watchers cupcakes.

All you need is 1 box cake mix - any flavor, and 1 can soda - any flavor. I have done white cake mix with sprite. You just add about 10 ounces of the soda to the cake mix and fold it in. Then bake as directed on the box. Then frost them after they have cooled. Really the cake is sweet with out the frosting, but these are kids we are talking about.

This way the kids with the allergies can have cupcakes just like the other kids. It doesn't take too much time to make these, but if you don't have the time I like Sherry's idea of rice krispie treats. It's great to see other parents aware of other kids allergies. Good Luck.

i have used cherrybrook kitchen-tasty and easy to find. whole foods or even at stop n shop and other larger grocery stores in the natural / organic aisle. You are a good person. My son has dairy allergies and I would never expect a party host to alter or cater to my son's dietary needs. So many kids have different kinds of food allergies today. I always send my son to parties with his own cupcake or dessert that is safe for him to eat.

Ice cream. I am pretty sure that Breyers vanilla and chocolate are made without either of those.

As a mom of a child with food allergies, I just want to say thank you for being so careful and for thinkin of the other kids at your son's party. Oreo's and chips a hoy are also safe for eggs and nuts.I would definately avoid anything from a bakery, just to be safe. Have fun :)

Ice cream is definitely NOT an option for a child with an egg allergy. Cherrybrook Kitchen packaged mixes are sold at Whole Foods and sometimes Bed Bath and Beyond (at least in Manhattan), not expensive, and very easy/quick to bake. If you follow the instructions on the back of the box, they are dairy, egg, and nut-free. You can find cookies, brownies, and cupcake mixes from this company...and they all taste great--not "vegan" tasting.
Actually--if you already bought "vegan" cupcakes, then ask the mom of the child with the nut allergy whether she would be comfortable having her child eat these cupcakes. Just explain. Depending on the allergy (you wouldn't know yourself), it may be okay. Trust me---the mother will be very grateful for your thoughtfulness. If at this point, she is still concerned, then she will be happy to bring another treat for her child. Moms whose children have food allergies are used to doing this, and it is extremely thoughtful of moms hosting b-day parties to accommodate the food allergies.
