I would say if it says a Jr.size med, then thats more of a ( Med/Large) .It just depends on the make but if they put down a 16 then its diffinitly not a small..
My husband got a girl's name (12 years old) off the Angel Tree at this work, but forgot to note the sizing. So, I bought a sweater in jr.'s size small yesterday while out shopping. This morning, he calls and says the card said children's size 16 or a large. Could someone tell me if I need to take this sweater back and exchange it? Is there that much of a difference between a girls large and jr's small? It's a little stretchy, but looks like what I imagine would fit a 12 year old girl. Thanks so much!
I caved and exchanged the sweater to a girls size 16. The jr.'s size cut was much slimmer, and I was afraid it just wouldn't work. I know some 12 year olds haven't lost the baby fat yet. Got her a really cute hoodie sweater with sparkles. :) Thanks ladies.

I think that should work pretty well. Do you have a gift receipt you can include, just in case it doesn't work out?
I swear they do this to annoy moms. My daughter is a size 10 but can wear a junior small if that helps. So if she is is 16 large there is a chance it is too small.
Have fun! :)
Probably would need a medium. I'm a women's 0/2 or XS, junior's S, or kids 12-14. But Im also short. So if it's a taller girl, that would definitely necessitate a larger than junior's small.
I have an 11 year old son who wears a Men's medium. He is tall and slim. Gosh, it's anybody's guess. I think I would exchange it for at least a medium.
My daughter wore a 14-16 or a jr small so if it is a bit stretchy, it should fit If you really want to be safe though, I would exchange for a size 16 to be really sure. Or hold the sweater up to a size 16 to see what the diff is. I have done that before. As we all know, some maker's sizes are not the same as others and a 16 on one is a 12 in another.
For a girls size 16 you would probably want a medium in juniors clothing. My 11 year old is in a size 10/12 in girls clothing but very tiny build and can't fit into junior clothing yet. My thirteen year need large in juniors when she was wearing a 16 in girls but is very tall and bigger build. I don't know if this helps much but thought maybe it would give you some idea. Good Luck!
I think it should work. My daughter wears a juniors small and could probably fit in a childs 16.
It really depends on the shape of the girl. Most Jr’s clothes are cut to fit tightly. A girl’s size 16 will usually not be cut the same. Although I do notice that they are making even the smaller girls clothes to look like the Jr’s so it probably won't matter. Did you get a gift receipt? Add it when he brings it in, most of the time they ask that it not be wrapped.
