I have used hairspray to take out permanent black ink on fabric. It does work. I can't guarantee it will work on every fabric, but it has worked for me. You may have to spray, then scrub a little, spray some more, etc. You get the idea.
I need help, I just washed a black pen with a heavy dark load of clothes. How do you get black ink out of a sweatshirt?
The sweatshirt has been soaking in water and alot of tide since I got it out of the washing machine. It appears to be coming out. I have never heard of grandma's spot remover but I think I will be looking to get some.

Not sure if you dried the shirt in a drier or not but this happened to one of my daughter's shorts last year. She left one of those small ink pens in her pocket and I missed it (she should have checked first too). I washed it a bunch of times and finally just soaked it for almost 2 days with Oxyclean (meant to do one but forgot it was there). You can barely tell there is a stain. If this shirt is dark , you might be able to reduce if not remove the ink.
Try Grandma's Spot Remover. My mom actually wrote on a shirt with a black pen just to test this stuff & it came out. It also took out red crayon stains out of my daughter's clothes after the crayon got dried w/ the clothes in the dryer! (It even worked after the clothes had been washed & dried again already).
If it is ball point pen ink, you can try spraying it with hairspray and washing it immediately. Good luck!
It depends on the kind of ink.
Our daughter just wrote with red ball point ink on the leather interior of our new car. Hairspray wasn't recommended because there's really no proof that it works, but the site I found mentioned rubbing alcohol (hairspray does have lots of alcohol in it), and it worked.
You could also contact the manufacturer of the pen to see what they recommend as I'm sure it's a common issue.
