Pffff! LOL! Our almost 19 month old still wakes up once or more most nights --- maybe 1x/week will he sleep through the night now. He isn't hungry or cold or in pain (there is nothing wrong) except he wants to be held and feel us next to him until he falls back asleep again. He just wants to feel included and needs affection and human touch (which I personally believe is totally normal at such a young age and I do not believe it is something we should deny or try to "un-train"). Just hang in there and instead of expecting or comparing...just try accepting ; )

My pediatrician said you either have a sleeper or you don't. LOL. I did not. My son did not sleep through the night (our night) until 14 months.

Things to consider - growth spurts, developmental events, etc can make them not sleep through the night.

I just wanted to wish you luck and let you know you are not alone. It just clicked one night for him. I never made him cry it out because I could not let him. I would check on him, sooth, etc.

Check out some books from the library - the No Cry Sleep Solution was good. Dr. Sears has some great ones too. I read many books and took what worked for me and my son.

Good luck.

It took me 3 babies to accept the fact that I will not get a full nights sleep until theay all move out!!
Seriously none of my kids slept throught the night before a year. I am still up most nights for one reason or other...potty, blankets fell off, illnesses...the list could go on forever! It will pass!

I just finally started being able to sleep through the night about 8 months ago, SOMEBODY was always up for one reason or another, and my youngest is 3! We went from baby wake-ups to I have to go potty wake-ups (which seemed to require me even if at times only to re-tuck someone into bed) for a few of the youngest children... all I have to say is "Oh, sleep, how I missed you!" Lol, don't worry, your sleep problem may not be solved, but at least you know you're not alone!

Its true... You either have a sleeper or not... All 3 of mine slept thru the night from 2 days old...
I have a friend who's got 3 kids under the age of 7 that still do not sleep thru the night consistantly...

Just keep him on a schedule with specific bed times and make sure that he has his belly filled up before bed, comfy clothes on and a not too hot or too cold room...
It will happen and when you wake up that first time you will jump out of bed and rush to check on him fearing the worst.... To find him dreaming away....
