I am currently 8 weeks pregnant with my third. I am having a symptom that I did not have with either of my other two. Vaginal itching. I see absolutely no signs of a yeast infection, but I have this itching and burning that is really bad. It started yesterday. I washed really good and tried some home remedies of baking soda and also a bath with vinegar. Then I applied a little of the Monistat external itch cream which seemed to help me enough to get to sleep. But now this morning, here we go again with the same thing. I just tried some witch hazel which seems to be helping a little for now. I read on the internet that it could be the PH level of the vagina being off because of pregnancy hormones. I just can’t figure out why this has never happened to me before with the other two pregnancies. Has anyone else ever had this problem? If so what was it and what helped it. Thanks for any help; this is driving me crazy….

My niece is 11 weeks preg she has had itching no discharge, she called her ob and they said try the monistat she did she's better now. She had a yeast infection she just couldn't see the discharge like she had before. She was told monistat was fine during preg. I would always call my doctor first.

Could be contact dermatititis... which could be from detergents/ or soap. I would recommend cotton panties no tight clothes! (no thongs for sure!) washing with a perfume free/color free detergent such as Tide free... don't wash that area with anything other than water... (If it isn't a yeast infection, you need to eliminate any other items that can cause it). Go see your Dr. Tuesday just in case! Your hormones could have changed your sensitivities....

I know what you are going through!!! I had a yeast infection throughout my whole second pregnancy!!!!! it drove me crazy, but the doctor was able to give me some prescription cream that helped...can't remember the name. I still have some problems with the ph issue and there is some stuff called rephresh, but check with doc...i don't know if it is ok to use during pregnancy. It is probably hormones because as soon as I had my son, I had no more itching. Good luck with everything :)

Could it be a urinary tract infection possibly or maybe a bladder infection? I have had a UTI before and it did itch but went away with treatment. I am obviously not a doctor though so I would highly suggest seeing a doctor since you are pregnant. You definitely dont want to harbor something that could affect the baby. It doesn't sound like anything to worry about though. It's funny what kind of things our body goes through when we're pregnant. I had my first 10 months ago and I thought I had problems during my pregnancy when I had vaginal discharge which turned out to be normal. Good luck with that though.

Make sure there's no infection. After that, I highly recommend Jarrow's FemDophilus probiotic supplement. It targets the area you are concerned about and keeps that environment healthy.

I would call my ob or midwife and make an appointment. Every pregnancy is different even within the same woman so you could be having a new reaction to pregnancy that you didn't before. Your ob or midwife would be able to determine best what is going on.

Definitely see your ob/gyn about this but it is probably a yeast infection. Yeast thrives in moist areas and as we all know the bigger we get in pregnancy the less air exchange we have in that area. Try sleeping without underwear and only wear cotton underwear. Nylon blends cut down on the air exchange. It is a good idea while you are at home to wear a dress and no underwear. Also use a hair dryer to keep the area dry. If it is yeast you will probably have this problem throughout the pregnancy. I did with the second child. I would not use the vinegar and witchhazel and try and stick with the monistat until you get to the doctor.

This is normal. And, especially very irritating i had it with my first child. Your yeast elevates when you are pregnant. I had to go to my doctor and it gave me some medicine to ease the itching. Please go to your doctor it will run you Crazy".No home or over the counter will help. My doctor gave me some medicine that i had to pack vaginal. It sure did help. Good Luck!!!!!

I ate (and still eat) yogurt. It seemed to help while I was pregnant to keep things in check. I hope you find relief!!!

easiest thing is just to see your doctor (ob-gyn) and have them determine what is going on and give you the solution. I would not be doing the baking soda, vinegar, witch hazel "solutions" when you aren't even sure what the problem is. It may well be that one of your solutions actually exacerbates your problem.

Sounds like diabetes - either gestational or regular. Either way - go to a doctor.

I had the same problem with my third. It sounds kind of crazy, but I developed an allergy to both the laundry detergent I was using (the Arm & Hammer brand) and the toilet paper I was using (Angel Soft). The good news is that switching brands helped a lot. The bad news is that the allergies have stayed with me. After switching brands, it took a few days for the symptoms to disappear, but I felt so much better when they did. At the time, we thought it could have been one or the other, but when I tried one and not the other (like using the Angel Soft but not the Arm & Hammer and vice versa), the reaction would return. You might very well have developed an allergy to something, too, and it could take some playing around to figure out exactly what it is.

I had the same problem about a month ago. I couldn't get any relief. I bought monistat, vaginal cream, vaginal wipes. I'm not pregnant so that wasn't the problem. It would itch so bad, I rubbed to releave the itch and then it would burn to use something to releave the itching. Eventually, (about 4 days) it all started subsiding. About weak after it started there was no more itching.

Even though you can't see your md until Tuesday , go ahead and call to see what you can use in the meantime to relieve the itching. See if there is an antihistamine you could use too to help witht he itching then definitely see ob on tues. It just goes to show, every pregnancy is different.
