These 2 places are right across from on another. I am having my first baby in May and would love to hear any positive or negative feedback on these places or if one is better than another. Please reply.

My best friend's SIL used to work at a Kindercare and she thought it was horrible. Maybe for a baby it would be ok, but personally I prefer my baby to be in more of a home environment. Anyway, this girl (who is a certified teacher and now teaches 1st grade) said their curriculum was terrible and when she would try to change things they would just get upset with her. She said many of the parents in the room she taught were moving their children somewhere else when she left because the knew it woudl go back to the old curriculum. I think they are hugely overpriced for what they do. I did a home daycare for my son for the first two years, and now he is at a place that is almost like a preschool in a home, all the children can read by the time they go to kindergarten. I just think a home environment is so much more nurturing for a baby, and then when they get older, there are much better places to take them where they will get a better education.

Just my opinion, though....

I am a physical therapist and used to do treatment with a child at KinderCare on Rt. 53. I WOULD NEVER send my child there. There were far too many kids in the infant room. It is also not a true infant room. The kids in the room ranged from 6wks to 15months. So around your newborn were kids who were walking around with snotty noses:( The older kids were often poking at the younger ones that were in the swings and bouncers etc. I thought the room was not very clean and the toys were awful(and I don't think cleaned as often as they should be). Not all kinder care are like this. The one in Naperville has a very sanitary infant room where booties have to be put over your shoes and the children are only there up to 8 months. Maybe things have changed there but that was my experience three years ago.

Hi Sylvia,
Congrats on your N. baby. I am also due in May with my second child. My son went to Kinder Care for about 5 months while we were waiting for the home daycare he goes to now to be ready. We were really happy with them. They took great care of him and I felt very secure leaving him there. They are one of the more pricey day cares but we didn't mind paying since we were happy. I would definitely go back there if we ever needed to. Hope this helps.

I used to work at Kinder Care in the infant room. I will give you my views from an infant teacher. There are four babies to one teacher (at least there should be- many times it was 5) The teachers have just enough time to feed, change or calm a baby down before it is time to move on to the next child. Unfortunatly, the infants get care only when needed. It was hard just to sit and cuddle or play with a baby, unless it was early or late when numbers were low. I agree with an earlier post, home daycares may be a better choise than a center for an infant. I am currently doing home daycare in my home and only take one baby under 12 months at a time. He gets kissed and loved all day. Whenever he cries, I pick him up. Most likely, a baby at a center will not be given as much attention. Plus, home daycares tend to cost less. Good luck with whatever you choose!

My older daughter went to KinderCare in Geneva from 4 months to almost 4yrs old. I chose that particular site over others as the center only had 8 infant spots vs 12 at most other places.

My daughter did well there, and as a result of starting daycare at this early age, she is hardly ever sick and she is now 9 yrs old.

It is a tough decision placing your first baby into daycare, I completely understand. I just prefered daycare centers because there are many people around to watch out for my child.

I would go to a few places and visit at different times. I would ask as many questions as possible, and meet the director and teachers. Ask about there teacher turnover rate.

If you can find a center you like that has a smaller number of infants that would be great.

One other thing is that is is always harder to get infants into daycare, so make a decision ASAP as the spots go fast.

Good luck.

I know for a fact that all Childrens Worlds are changing thier name to Kindercare. They are all the same Company. The big thing would be to check out the teachers and to be sure that your child would not have to share a crib. Although they would claim to change the sheets each time a different child uses the crib I find it hard to believe. I worked for Childrens World for 9 years and an infant room is so busy. The infants really need alot of care and changing sheets AND wiping down a crib will for sure fall to the way side. In the begining your child may end up more sick than you would like but in time they will build up an immunity and probably do just fine. Just chck put the teachers and be sure they seem to like their job, are not strested out, and seem to really care for the children they are caring for.
Best of luck, L.

I don't know about those centers directly, but I know about the company as a whole. As of the end of this month, both will be owned by Knowledge Learning Center (the Children's World might even be changing names to KinderCare). What they teach (curriculum) and how the day generally goes is going to be the same. My advice to you is to not only schedule a time to visit, but drop in for a visit also. This will give you a good understanding about how the teachers react to visiters. I would also make sure you are comfortable with the staff 100%. They will be watching your loved one, so take your time and ask A LOT of questions.
