i am 15 weeks pregnant and ahve had a head ache for 4 weeks. The baby and I are fine but they do not know why I have a head ache. tylenol does not help. any suggestions why I amy have a head ache and they want me to see a acupuncture doctor any one know of one or have tried it?
Dear M.,
Try one of those aromatherapy heat/cold pads ( the ones you put in the microwave or freezer.
I had a headache until my second trimester. Nothing ever helped it besides sleep (which since that was my first baby was easy enough to do). I would say if the doctor is suggesting Acupuncture then go ahead and try it.
Good Luck!
I am a certified Quantum Touch® practitioner and Reiki Master Teacher. I also use EFT (tapping on meridian points that is in a way similar or at least based on acupuncture points).
I see you are in Sacramento also, here is my phone number ###-###-####
You may be surprised what only one session will do for you!

I am also about to start doing these therapies in direct conjunction with an established acupuncturist's office!

I too had headaches for months during by pregnancy with my now 3 month old daughter. My doctor recommended that I take one Tylenol, one lose dose aspirin and drink a Coke or Pepsi. You have to be careful about the aspirin because there are certain times during your pregnancy that they don't want you to have it, like really early on and then again in the late stages, but she said at the stage I was in it was ok. That combination would make my headaches bearable for at least a little while, which was sometimes worth every second. Good luck with the headaches and the pregnancy.
I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you but just wanted to say I know what you're going through, my headaches were terrible! I do agree with having your blood pressure checked because although that wasn't the case with me, that can be a clear sign of high blood pressure.
Hope it gets better,
J.
M.,
Please make sure that your doctor is checking your blood pressure regularly. A constant headache could be a sign of high blood pressure and this needs to be treated as it could be very harmful to you and the baby. Also, review your diet for anything that could be contributing to it like caffine. If you doctor has explored all the options and is recommending alternative medicine, then go for it. Good luck!!!!
M.: Make sure you have time to relax. Stress can cause headaches. See an acdupuncture after you have your baby. It might be the weather especially when it's been windy, or hot and cold days. M., you are a very busy mommie. Your on demand, get help around the house from family, friends, or hire a college student or trade something, instead of pay.
M.,
I am so sorry to hear about your headaches. I had headaches with all of my pregnancies. They were pretty bad and I felt as though they might be migraines. After speaking to my doctor we concluded that they were stress headaches. I didn't feel as though I was stressed and I had very easy pregnancies, with no problems at all, except for the headaches. Ultimately, what he had me do was drink a pepsi because caffeine will dilate your blood vessels. Well I tried it and it did work. So for each of the subsequent pregnancies that is what I did and it seemed to work. I know caffeine is not good for you when you are pregnant and you want to stay away from it, but once I started drinking the pepsi I didn't need to have one every day. I don't know if this will help you, but I sure do hope you find a solution that works for you. Good luck with your headaches and through the remainder of your pregnancy.
Hi M.-
I had headaches with my son. Doc said it was from the hormone changes in my bod, they eventually calmed down. I have had acupuncture and think it's great and I'm no needle fan but it's not bad at all. I'm 22 weeks prego and am looking at going for bad allergies I won't be able to take meds for this year. I've heard such great things about acupunture during pregnancy. Go for it. I know there's a number of ways to find one, but I just looked one up on acufinder.com It's a little pricey, the one I looked at was $90 initial visit & $70 for visits after that, they did take some insurance though. With headaches you may only need 1 or 2 times. Good luck!
