Take Tylenol. It's completely safe while pregnant. I had headaches everyday with my first pregnancy. It's not worth suffering thru them. Tylenol is totally ok. By about 3 months the headaches should start going away.
I am currently 10 weeks pregnant and am having bad headaches and migraines, I am seeking some advise or help with this issue. Does anyone know of any type of relief I can try besides taking medication since that is not recommended while pregnant? I would greatly appreciate any advise at this point!

Hello, I also suffered from frequent headaches and migraines while pregnant and I had a wonder full chiropractor that helped and he also suggested I take a hand towel, get it wet, wring it out a bit, wrap in in a plastic bad and freeze it. When you need it take it out and if it's too hard for you, throw it in the microwave for 30 seconds and you'll be able to bed it so where you need it.... works wonders.
Well, after 15 years of almost daily head splitters, I found a Chiropractor who treated me for a while. The headaches gradually decreased, then (blessedly) stopped. I rarely have a headache that can't be stopped with massage of my neck and shoulders by my supportive husband. It's worth a try and is so much better than taking medication which only dulls the pain.
Hi, C.. I know what you mean about the headaches. Most of it probably has to do with the change in hormones...but you need to make SURE you're getting enough water. That's one of the most important things during pregnancy. My doctor told me Tylenol was safe to take. Aspirin is bad & Ibuprofen can interfere with baby's circulation, but I've had a few headaches myself lately & have taken just one tylenol with a huge glass of water & that has worked for me. Good luck....these 1st few weeks can be a little rough, but it dows get better. =)
Try peppermint oil. You can smell it or put a drop on your temples. There are many places to get it but I buy mine from Young Living Essential Oils. I think they are the best. Their website is youngliving.com
I would also try using ice packs on your head. I know this sounds crazy but I also suffer from Migraines and did so while pregnant also..it took me a while to believe that ice really does help. The doctor told me when you get migrains the blood vessels in your head expand and open up and let lots of blood flow and then its a migrain so by icing them it helps shrink those blood vessels back down. Godd luck.
I found the best cure for a headache during pregnancy was a visit to the Chiropractor. I also found a vaporizer helpful if my headache was sinus/cold related. Good luck!!!
If you were a coffee/or diet coke drinker and suddenly stopped due to pregnancy that can trigger migraines. During both of my pregnancies my OBGYN allowed me one diet coke each morning to stave off headaches. You cannot drink too much caffeine but headaches are a sure sign of them. See if Tylenol will help you too.
Hang in there and congrats
I recommend a chiropractor. I've been seeing one for going on 5 years now. This way you are not ingesting anything that is potentially toxic to the baby. I am a single mom of two boys 12 and 14 and they to have regular adjustments from our Body by God Chiropractic office. My 14 year old does not have to take asthma medications any longer I think because of the chiropractic care.
Sometimes headaches can be a sign of dehydration. Try increasing your water intake and see if that gets you any relief. That is usually the first thing I try when I a sudden onset of headaches. Hope it helps and you feel better soon!
Hi C.,
Make sure that you drinking plenty of water and are staying hydrated. :-)
I too am pregnant and suffer from severe headaches and migraines. I refuse to take any medication including tylenol. I have found that using a hot rice bag on the back of my neck and a cold wash rag on my forhead seems to help. Try and take some relaxing time for yourself to treat you headaches. Relaxing in a warm bath never hurts either. Hope this helps a little bit.
I got migraines a lot when I was pregnant and you can't take anything for them. My Mom suggested 1/2 a hershey's chocolate bar and a caffeinated soda. It worked for the most part unless it was really bad or I had let it go for too long. If I really needed it, I took Tylonol or Excedrine headache (but only take the Excedrine if you are in the first two trimesters because it has IB Profin in it and check with your doctor first) and be careful of the caffeine if you have high blood pressure. Also sleeping in a dark, quiet room works too or doing relaxation exercises or have your hubby rub your neck and head. Someone also told me chiropractors or a massage works but I never tried this. A midwife also suggested feverfew tea but a week after she told me that, i noticed it was on a list to avoid, so I'd ask your doctor first if anyone suggests herbal remedies. I hate tea so I never explored it further. Good luck!
S., 25, mom of Tyrrone, 3 months
I also had them at about 10 weeks and my OB said it was ok to take Tylenol. I only used ut twice and it worked both times.
Sorry - don't have any advice for non-medicated relief. Good luck!
Ever considered acupuncture or massage?
Water, water, water!!! When I was pregnant with my 4th and last child, our fridge had died on us. We bought a new fridge that had a water dispenser on it and I started to drink water more because it was already cold enough that I didn't need ice cubes (semi sensitive teeth). Anyway, I started to drink more water and within a few days, my headaches decreased. So much so that by the end of the week, I wasn't having them anymore. Needless to say, I kept up on lots of water during that pregnancy so that I wasn't hiding my head under pillows anymore!
See a chiropracter. All natural and works wonders.
I also suffer from migraines and sinus headaches, and since I'm allergic to most pain relievers, I usually have to go the no drug route, as well. If I have time to lie down, I'll use an eye-pillow that I keep in the fridge; you can make your own by filling a cloth bag or sock with dry rice. Otherwise, I'll put some essential oil on a cloth to smell; peppermint works well for me, but if you look at a health food store (like Whole Foods or Vitamin Cottage), you'll find several essential oils that are good for relieving headaches. As with any pain reliever, these things work better on some headaches than others. Also, when using essential oils, be cautious to read any warnings, as some are not recommended for those who are pregnant or nursing. I hope this helps.
PS- As I was reading through the other responses, I noticed people mention the hand massage method; I may be remembering this wrong, so anyone who knows, jump in, but I think sometimes this is not advised for pregnant women since there is a pressure point in the wrist/hand that can trigger premature labor. If I'm wrong, sorry to have freaked you out; but, I just felt I had to say something, in case I was remembering correctly.
I don't get headaches, so I can't relate, but I am sure you are miserable. I heard once though that gatorade helps a lot with headaches. A friend sent me an e-mail that was about all different household items that can be used for thing that you would never think of. It said that 2 glasses of gatorade could relieve a headache almost immediately without the side affects of all the other "pain relievers". Now I can't tell you if it works or not, but I think it is defineately worth a try! Good luck! Hope you feel better!

Hi Cristine,
I use peppermint oil to stop samll headaches. You can buy it at the local health food stores. You just rub it on the back of your neck and your temples, being careful not to get it too close to your eyes, as it can sting. The headache sometimes comes backafter ten minutes. I rub the peppermint oil on my temples again and the headache does not come back.
I do not know how to get rid of migraines, but I do know that diet pop or MSG or aspertame (in artificial sweeteners and many other things!) can trigger them. The people in the personal care dept at your local health food store can give you ideas for natural ways to fix migraines. Staying hydrated helps.
Good luck! K. Loidolt author of Shopper's Guide to Healthy Living ____@____.com
I had headaches with my first child and I did acupuncture and in the last 1 1/2 years I have only had maybe 2 really bad headaches. But then I starting acupuncture again and they are gone.
I was plagued by horrible headaches during the beginning of my first pregnancy too. I found that my headaches were linked to my eating habits. While I've never had poor eating habits, I wasn't getting the complete, well rounded nutrition that I needed. I made a checklist for myself using the new food pyramid as my guide (with extra protein and dairy servings that are recommended for pregnant women). As I ate something I would check it off and at the end of the day I could see where I was lacking. I used this list the rest of my pregnancy to track my diet. I found it very helpful because I could just glance at it and see that I needed to snack on some veggies and not ice cream, crackers etc. By doing this I was able to make sure that I ate the daily recommendations of all food groups and it took care of my headaches. But, as every woman and every pregnancy is different, it's hard to make that gurantee for you.
Headaches have many different sources, but sometimes the fluctuating estrogen is the source, and in those cases, you can often get fantastic results by taking a daily vitamin called magnesium. Start taking one per day, and you'll know very quickly whether magnesium can help your situation.
p.s. Your due date is my birthday!
If possible, try to sleep in a quiet, cool, dark room. A nice quiet, warm bath in a darkened bathroom will help, too.
I have had migraines every since I was in Jr. high (so, the last 15 yrs. or so). When I got pregnant with my first child in 2004, my migraines went crazy! I was getting them every other to every two days. When I went into the Dr. they gave me a prescription to fioricet(sp). It actually worked (up until that point, the only medication I had taken that had worked was exedrin migraine), and I could take it while pregnant and breastfeeding. The great part is, that it still works. When I have migraines, I also like to seek a dark room, lay down, and relax. I usually get a heat pack (for some an ice pack works better), and place it on my head. If I had another heat pack, I would also put it around my neck and shoulders as that seems to help as well. Lots of liquid, quiet, a little pressure, and rest. Hope that helps. I can completely emphasize. For many women these headaches only come when they are pregnant, for some they are worse when pregnant...for me, they were worse when pregnant with my first child, less frequent in between my second and first, much more mild and frequent my second pregnancy, and now they are very infrequent and very mild (if the trend continues, I am hoping they disappear all together). A slight glimmer of hope!
There are 2 things you can do to help the migraines. My migraines show up in my temples, and I get very light sensitive and an upset stomach. I will put a dab of peppermint essential oil (you can get essential oils at any health food store)or even a little bit of Bengay or Icy Hot on my temples and the back of my neck. Then I go lay down in my room with the door closed and the lights off. If your migraines make you sick the mintyness of the bengay or the essential oil will lower your body temp and help keep your stomach down. I would also recommend finding out what your migraine triggers are and try to avoid them until the baby is born. Good Luck and Happy Parenting
I had the same thing in my first trimester with my second child (who is now 5 weeks old) they were so bad I could hardly take care of my other daughter (who is 3). Try taking two 500 mg of Tylenol (which is totally safe to take when pregnant) and follow that with some caffeine. Then I would take a hot bath. I know this solution won't get rid of a migraine, but it will definitely help. Hopefully they will stop in your second trimester.
Good Luck!
Granny Smith apples (prefer organic) Can help with headaches too. I hope you feel better soon C.!
I don't know if anyone suggested this, but poke around on your palms, near the thumb and the area between the thumb and index finger. When you poke around on each hand, you'll find a spot or spots that are very tender or painful. Hold these spots for about 1-2 minutes each the pain should subside almost immediately.
Congrats on your first child!
C. I had similar issues during my pregnancy. I seem to remember also having lots of sinus problems and I was able to connect my headaches to the sinus issues. For this I sat for many hours in the steamy shower. Migraines are a different story. I am a migraine sufferer as well. I think I remember the doc telling me she could help with the nausea with compozine but not with the pain. Sometimes, you can start to feel better if your not so nasiated. Hope this helps.
Headaches can be a sign of dehydration. You could try drinking more fluids. Even a little more rest could help. But I am not a doctor. My mother would say take some tylenol and lye down for a bit. If it doesn't work and you continue to get migranes you should probably consult your doctor.
Sometimes just relaxing can help ease a headache. Try listening to some music and just chill for a few minutes. I also really like something called "head on". You just rub it on your head and it feels kind of cold.
I am also a childbirth educator/music therapist, and would love to teach you natural ways to ease pain during labor and delivery. Check out my website at http://musicbirth.googlepages.com

Yuck. I got debilitating headaches when I was pregnant too. There's not a lot they can do for you with medication this early, but my doctor always said to try drinking a bunch of water first when I would get a headache before trying any other methods. He said a lot of women don't realize how much a baby takes out of them even when they're too small to see! After about 20 weeks, my doctor actually prescribed me some Tylenol 3's (stronger than over the counter extra strength tylenol). Tylenol is one of the only pain relievers approved for pregnant women. But you probably have to wait a little longer before "drugging up" if you aren't strongly opposed to them. Also, make sure your headaches are not blood pressure related. That could be a sign of pre-eclampsia. (along with a bunch of other symptoms - just mention it to your doctor and they should be able to tell you immediately if it's related). Good luck, and hang in there.
It's possible you're dehydrated. The leading cause of headaches is not being well hydrated, amazingly enough. I would try drinking plenty of water throughout the day. You could also try pressure points, but I'd start with the water first...It may be as simple as that and then you wouldn't have to worry about medications.
I just asked this a week ago and got some great advice if you want to check that out. I won't repeat it all. My ob/gyn also said that Darvocet and one other med are okay with him during pregnancy. Since my husband is out of town I went ahead and got a script just since I can't spend the day in bed with two kids running around. I hope you get over them soon. It is often a hormonal problem, so it may not continue as your hormones settle into pregnancy. GL and congratulations on the little one!
DRINK MORE WATER! and eat more often it can be caused by blood sugars. I would get those same head aches while i was pregnant and dark rooms, more sleep and lots of water helped
Hi C.!
Congratulations on your first baby!!
I am really sorry that you suffer from migraines and headaches.
My friend got rid of her migraines by drinking a natural juice that's totally safe for pregnant women.
Go check out my website at www.davidstephen.the mangosteenrevolution.com
Make sure you also drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.
Feel better!

C., I have had 4 children. My last 3 pregnancies I had 3-4 migraines a week. I know that taking some medications while pregnant is not safe but sometimes the problem outweigh the pregnancy. My doctor gave me tylenol 3, which i took very minimal to relieve the pain in my head. All 3 of my kids that I had to take this medication during pregnancy have had no side effects. All born completely healthy. In fact, they are all super smart and well behaved. My 4 year old is in preschool and they have now recommended her to a junior kindergarten instead of pre-k. Talk to your doctor and ask many questions. I could give you my doctocrs information if you'd like to talk to them also. I hope this helps. I laso took an over the counter medication called Goody's powder. It is a mix of tylenol, aspirin adn caffine. These work great. I still take it for my migraines. You can't take it in the last tri-mester because of the aspirin. You can buy it at walgreens, rite-aid or other store like that. Hope you feel better.
N.
I have been plagued with migraines for years, so you have my great sympathy, C.. They are awful, and combined with the discomfort of pregnancy, it can be particularly challenging.
The key for me has been headache prevention: eating a healthy snack every couple hours and never letting my blood-sugar drop; exercising, even just a little bit, every day; eliminating as much stress from my life as possible; going to bed early; wearing sunglasses outside; etc. Try to find out what your triggers are, and eliminate them.
If you already have a headache despite preventative measures, then I find relaxation techniques and self-hypnosis for pain relief helps a lot. It's kind of like dealing with contractions in natural child birth: the more you can relax the less pain you feel, or at least the better you can manage it. Don't tense up against the pain, that will only make it worse.
I also found that acupuncture can help tremndously, if you can afford it. I also will lie in a darkened room with a pillow on my head. The pillow adds enough pressure externally that it somehow alleviates the pressure inside my head. It's just a coping mechanism, but I'll take anything that will help even a little bit.
Good luck! I hope you find something that helps.
I am rather large chested and get frequent tension headaches. When I get pregnant my chest grows bigger and the headaches become more frequent. I find that watching my posture helps. Also you can do some exercises to build up your shoulder and neck muscles. Send me a private message if you want to know more about the exercises. I had to go to physical therapy (before my first baby) because of headaches and that is where I learned the exercises. You may also want to talk with your doctor about your headaches because there are things you can do for them. Heck even have your hubby give you a nice long massage when you get the headaches.
I know how awful headaches can be and I hope you find a solution.
I do know of a natural product that can help. I know many pregnant women who have tried it and like it. You are welcome to get in contact with me and I can get you the information on how to get it.
C., my advice would be to call you OB/GYN. I know that there are meds you can take even in the first tri-mester. Also, try a cup of coffee. It won't hurt the baby and could take the edge off your headache. Caffeine is one of the major ingredients in migraine/headache meds.
C., I am 24 weeks pregnant with our first baby and have had severe severe headaches. These headaches are worse than I've ever had in my entire life. I am currently on a nutrition program(Standard Process) and it seems to help. I have also been diagnosed with high blood pressure since I was a few months along. So you might want to check your blood pressure. I am a nurse and when I have a hard day at work they are worse. My OBGYN does not have any other advise except tylenol and coke. Who wants to always take tylenol, not me carrying our miracle baby. I am married to a beautiful christain man for 7 years and we were told I could not have children because of polycistic Ovarian Syndrome. But, Our great God is bigger than the medical world. I graduated as a nurse and had submitted that part of my life to God and he opened my womb. So I will pray for you as I know how violently ill I have been with headaches.
I know how you feel. I get migraine headaches and couldn't take medication when I was pregnant. I know this is going to sound a bit odd - especially if you don't fall into the "preventative medicine" type of thing. But, go to a chiropractor. I was already going before I became pregnant, but after it was a huge relief to me that he could adjust my neck and my headaches would be so much better. I only had one migraine while I was pregnant and only then because I couldn't get to my chiropractor (we were traveling). Also, you can look into finding someone in your area that is trained in pre-natal massage - see if they have a "package" you can get for head and neck massages. If nothing else, you'll feel great and get pampered. Hope this helps out.
There is a nerve or something that runs between your thumb and your pointer finger that hurts really bad if you put pressure on it-- squeeze it with your other thumb and pointer finger (it hurts) for a few seconds and it will usually alleviate a headache. I don't know why it works-my grandma taught that to me, she had headaches a lot.
Erika B is correct with the pressure point on the hand thing. It is a spot commonly used to try and trigger labor.
I suffered a lot of horrible headaches throughout both of my pregnancies. My headaches would last for several days or even a week each time. I was nervous taking Tylenol daily for it, but it was the only thing that kept me sane. I tried taking extra ginger, getting more rest, drink extra fluids, eat more balanced, and reduce stress. These things helped, but didn't solve the problem. I did take Tylenol regularly and both my kids turned out just fine.
I get headaches like those when I am over-tired. I don't know if this could be the issue, but sleep always helps me. Stress can also cause this type of headache--if there aren't any life related stresses you can change, lavender or mint essential oils or aromatherapy are very soothing and can help. There are also pressure points that when pressed can relieve headache pressure. If you take your thumb and forefinger and pinch the flesh of your palm between the thumb and forefinger of your other hand, it can relieve the pain--you can do it on either hand. There are also pressure points around the underside of your eye sockets by the bridge of your nose and up around below your eyebrows. When you press any of these pressure points, they will be sensitive--that will let you know that they are indeed under stress or in need of relief. Just gently massage any of these areas and you should feel some relief. Finally, most of my headaches originate from the base of my skull/top of my neck. If you can have your husband--or you can even do it yourself--I do all the time--reach back and massage the tissues and muscles right at the base of your head, I am betting it will be very tender and you will feel it affect the headache. Alternating between these pressure points and muscles and getting a little extra rest should allow you to kick the headache. Best of luck--those are no fun. Hope it helps. C.
First, let my sympathize, I had severe headaches through much of my pregnancy... Each person is different, and sometimes monday's headache will respond to something that didn't TOUCH sunday's.
One thing that really worked for me was swimming, or barring that, submerging in a tub. Something about changing the ambient pressure around me really made a difference, if only temporarily.
Massage, always, seems to help, prefferably from someone you love. Whether forehead, sinuses, temples, or back of neck and scalp, it sometimes does the trick.
Smells can make both a positive or negative difference. I found the smell of tiger-balm (like ben-gay) actually helped sometimes. Other times, it was lavander that did the trick.
And of course, the trusty ice-pack on the eyes or under your neck as you lie down. I also got a "chillow", which is a self-cooling pillow that sometimes helped. Nothing was GREAT, but each of these strategies made at least ONE day go better.
This too will pass! -Rebecca
hello,
sorry about your headaches/migraines....
i keep refraining from 'selling myself' on this forum because it sometimes concerns me when people do that. but today i feel like doing it, so i hope you don't mind!
i agree with much of the advice about drinking lots of water, resting well etc. do make sure you double check other advice re: essential oils, herbs and pressure point massage though to make sure you know that they are safe in the early stages of pregnancy.
many holistic health options are safe during pregnancy, but I thoroughly recommend Bowen work for use during pregnancy, because it is non-invasive and completely safe and gentle for mom and baby. It is also very useful for treating migraines, infact research is underway in England about Bowen and Migraines. I used it throughout my second pregnancy and afterwards and loved it. So, I practice it.... my business is listed on here under 'Live Well, Heal Gently' so you can look it up if you like and find out more on my blogspot http://www.livewellhealgently.blogspot.com
good luck with finding out what works for you!
During my last pregnancy I too suffered from very bad headaches and some migraines. I discovered that I had some food triggers, that if I stayed away from the foods that I wouldn't get a headache, chocolate and chinese foods for me. I also noticed that if I was dehydrated that I would be more prone to them. So drink lots of water. One way to tell if you are drinking enough is to look at your pee. I know that sounds really gross, but it works. If you can't tell the difference between your pee and the water in the toilet then you are getting enough. But to help them when you got a headache I used a cool washcloth on my forehead, sometimes even covering my eyes. Then I would try and take a nap. For you that will be easier, this being your first (I now have 6). Congrats and good luck.
It's been a while, so I can't remember the name of it. There is some sort of mint cream at health stores that you can rub on your temples...then you take a tiny massager (I found one at Sharper Image) and use it on your temples with the cream. My sister-in-law and I both used this method and it worked for us.
you can take tylenol while pregnant which i did alot as i had trouble with migraines too.also i did take excedrin migraine a few times when i was desperate, but my doc didn't like me doing this more than once or twice. call your ob, there are some meds you can take which are ok on occasion during pregnancy and can get you some relief when things get really bad(mine prescribed fioricet w/codein for me)also do the preventative stuff, lots of water, good sleep and healthy diet with no chocolate or caffein. your headaches are probably being cause by all the hormones fluctuating in your system...i had crazy bad headaches at the beginning or my last pregnancy and in the first few days after my daughter was born(hormones again) so be prepared. luckily the middle wasn't too bad but i did have a few, best of luck and congrats, i hope this info helps, no-l
I have always struggled with migraines...I just recently came across a gem--it's Village Naturals Therapy Lotion, Headache Relief. I found it at WalMart one day when I had a horrid headache and thought, why not (It was around $5 and is 16 oz) I use it now when I feel a headache coming on, or if it is already on I rub it into my neck and shoulders and temples. It helps a lot. I also use Excedrin Migraine or Excedrin Tension headache depending on where the headache is focused--if I take one of them with a coke or other caffinated drink it can knock out most headaches.
I hope that helps. The headaches are no fun--
I am 14 weeks and am experiencing the same thing. I found a massage therapist who specializes in maternity. I have been twice and it has helped my headaches tremendously. She is in Fort Collins, let me know if you'd like her contact info. Her prices are very reasonable. Also, someone told me to try pressing on my eyebrow bone with medium pressure starting in by the nose and working your way out. It gives a little temporary relief. Good luck!
Ugh, this happened to me too. I didn't barf, but I felt hung over - including a nagging head ache - for about 13ish weeks.
The one thing that did seem to give me relief were B vitamins, which was suggested by my midwife. She told me to take a good quality B complex, and take a lot of it.
Take good care!
M.
You can always try a Chiropractor. They can do special adjustments for headaches and for pregnant women. Thats how I took care of my headaches when I was pregnant with my twins.
I like the advise about gatorade, but even better is a pedilite popsicle. The amount of sugar in Gatorade counteracts the electrolyte benefit. That along with a nice cool cloth on the forehead and temples. Relax in a dimmly lite bedroom and listen to soothing music. This works for me everytime and I find that the recovering is longer lasting than any medication.
You would be amazed at how many headaches are actually caused my dehydration. (Good old water also works wonders).
I had the same thing when I was pregnant. Try an ice pack or bag of ice wrapped in a towel on the back of your neck. It should relieve the pain! Good luck!
Try therapeutic grade lavender oil. You can find it at whole foods or other organic food stores. You can just sniff it out of the bottle, put a few drops on a wash cloth or a few drops under your nose. You can also just have someone massage you with a little of the oil. You do need to make sure that it is medical or therapeutic grade, there are several different types though, so just find one that smells the best to you. Hope this helps.
I had migraines starting in college and have had them since. Meds never worked for me, the side effects were worse than the pain. My husband (boyfriend at the time) would rub my hand. Have your husband do this because it is more effeictive if someone else does it.... it hurts bad to do and you will stop yourself before it takes hold.
Get comfortable, have him massage (pinch) the meaty area between your thumb and first finger. Not the "skin web" but deep in the meat. You will feel a lot of pain as he hits the spot. Try to endure the pain in your hand because the pain in your head disappers. I know this sounds crazy but it really works! I have my husband rub my hand for mild headaches too. The pain in your hand will go away quickly. It may take a few times to be able to stand it long enough to work. Just when you don't think you can stand the pain in your hand the pain in your head is gone.
Hope this helps, and congrats on the new blessing.
C.,
First Congrats! Second, I ma so sorry about your headaches. My sister suffered from migraines throughout her pregnancy. Her's were so severe she ended up in the ER 29 times. If you start the vomit from the headaches go to the hospital. Do not wait! You'll get dehydrated and that's bad for you and baby. They will have to give you a shot, I thinko f Demerol. Its baby safe. I used Chlortrimital. I think that's how you spell it. Its an allergy med, but it worked on my headaches. The pharmacist recommended it. It is also baby safe.
Cool baths helped my sister, very dark rooms and absolute silence. Enjoy it while you can.
You might try massage or have your hubby rub your head very gently. No perfume, smelly candles or smelly cleaners.
Talk to your pharamacist or dr for suggestions as well.
I have suffered from migraines ever since I had my daughter and people ask what do you do when you have a headahce and you are watching your baby? My reply, I'm a mommy. I just deal with it. Then when my honey comes home I crawl in bed and sleep for an hour.
Good luck! I hope I didn't scare you. Don't be too tough while pregnant, you got a baby to keep healthy. Afterwards is when you need to ne tough.
Have you considered chiropractic care? It has a great track record for assisting with difficult headaches. I have personal knowledege that it works and is why I became a chiropractor. Patients will tell you that they have found relief from their headache and a healthier lifestyle too. Please let me know if you want or need more infrmation.
There is hope!
What i do that helps me is go into a quiet room that is farly dark, and lie down and just breath in through my nose and out through my mouth for a whil;e it usually helps to releave the pain
I had the same with my pregnancies, but at least 2 out of 3 of them the migraines went away after the 1st trimester. I hope this is the case with you...A strong cup of coffee sometimes helped, there's also an ecedrine without asprin for "tension" headaches sometimes helped...congrats and i hope this helps..
Gatorade!! I didn't have migraines but I had a headache everyday. I was drinking so much water that I was washing out my electrolytes. Gatorade saved me. By the end of my pregnancy it didn't help, but for many months I drank a bottle of it everyday.
Yes I get migraines a lot and the only thing that help me is to get a wet towel and put it the microware for a couple minutes then in a plastic zipped lot bag and then wrap a another towel then around and your head.
A little about me. I am 55 year old and been with my husband scene we where 17 years old and he is my sole mate. Have three children and 4 grandchildren. I have work for the school district transportation dept for 30 years and train new employees in special Ed.
I'm 33 weeks prego!!! So fun isn't it? I use this stuff called Xango and I haven't had a single headache this whole pregnancy...knock on wood. It's natural and just juice and it tastes good - so it's so fine for pregnant women. If you want more info...go to my mamasource page:
