I did it - Door to Door - same type of company. It worked great. For us, I under-ordered the pods - you are only charged for what you USE, so overestimating the pods is no big deal. The ability to store things worked well for us, as we were in transition for a couple of months before we got to our final "we live here" place.

The big mattresses take up more space than you expect, so add an extra pod for the bedroom if you have that kind of mattress. Same for poofy couches.

I haven't used them personally, but I do know 3 people who have.

Two were local moves and had no problems.
One was VA to NV and really no problems. I think it was $1700 for her have them transport to VA and pick up and drive to NV.

In all three cases, they only needed ONE POD each...so I don't know if you would need more than one or not.

My daughter and now son-in-law used PODS about a year ago when they moved him from Galveston TX to Wisconsin. Other than packing it themselves, homes in Galveston are built on stilts, it was great.
They got married in July and she moved both them back to Galveston. She hired All State Movers or Moving, HORRIBLE experience. First, they sent a truck that was 1/4 full so not enough room. Then the movers refused to take an armoire because it was too big and heavy. My daughter and SIL moved it by themselves. Then they couldn't fit everything in and left a lot behind, it looked as though she would need to either hire another truck or rent a U-Haul trailer and tow it. But we started to pack both pick-up trucks to the hilt. We ended up only having to ship one small box.
Back to All state Movers --- the truck broke down and their stuff was put in storage for over 3 weeks. My daughter had to make do with air mattresses and paper plates all her dishes and cookware was on the truck.
Then ----- when the truck FINALLY arrived the driver wanted to charge them extra because he had to haul everything up a flight of stairs. AND -- all the boxes marked HANDLE WITH CARE and FRAGILE were dented scuffed etc and two plates from my Mom's set of dishes were broken.
If you hire a company such as PODS you pack it and they pick it up. They have a great reputation.
My daughter was trying to save money and really got skinned in the end.

I know one person that used them from PA to FL, she also kept it for storage. The move was fine but using them for storage is very costly. There are a few different companies that offer moving containers so you can look around for pricing.

I have always used U-Haul trucks. You can now hire people to load and unload at both of your destinations and it is much cheaper then any other moving company. You do need to be OK with driving a large truck, that is something that never bothered me.
