I was looking at these and wondering if anyone has any good or bad feedback on them. What about your low back? And, do they still support the ankles like regular athletic shoes? Thanks in Advance!!

What can I do next?

I had Reebok Easy Tones. They were comfortable (took a little getting used to since it felt like you were walking on a cloud) but I did not notice any difference in my butt, legs, etc. I exercise 4-5 days a week anyhow and thought this would be a nice little added bonus...but seriously if you're going to spend that money...buy a decent pair of running or walking shoes. :)

I had the original MBT's at 300 bucks. Then I switched to Shape-ups when they came out. I would not wear anything else.

They are difficult to get used to. Turning the ankle is very possible at first. I bought them because I have such bad feet. They help keep me from getting plantar fasciitis again.

My MBT's lasted for almost 5 years. My shape-ups did wear out in a year.

I have Shape-Ups, and they are fine. Like others have said, I don't think they really give you much of a workout. They're like high heels - when you first start wearing them, you will develop muscles in different parts of your legs, but after you get used to them, they're just like any other shoe.

Otherwise, they are pretty comfortable. Mine have held up for a while. I've had them for probably two years now, and they're in good shape. All that being said, the only reason I own a pair is because my sister works for a shoe store and got them for me for free. I have no idea how much they cost, but I'm sure I would never have paid for them.

Like S L M, I bought them to help with my chronic severe ankle, arch and sole pain. As a Nurse, I could not work even a 6 hour shift if I were not wearing my shape ups, MBTs or True Balance shoes... Yes, the irony of a young woman with severe chronic ankle/foot pain choosing to work as a Nurse - but truthfully, that's one of the few recession proof jobs. I try to deal with my temporary crippling after each shift and those shoes make it easier.

I have some but I wish I had gotten regular tennis shes instead. They do work my legs pretty good, but I ca get that with regular shoes and fast walking too. They make my feet hurt though and they are awkward to just walk around in and forget going anywhere with un-even ground! Flat pavement is best for them. I get more of a work out pushing my two babies in a stroller.

LOVE my Reebok Easy Tones. Much better looking and if you watch 6pm.com or reebok.com you can get them for $40.00!

I have three pairs and love them all.

I have heard that they help with some leg and ankle problems but as a work out they are worthless. That has been proven twenty ways from Tuesday by every consumer reports type organizations.

My boss wears them all the time because she thinks they make her look healthy, I think she has gained weight since she got them.

I have a pair of Skechers Shape-ups.
While I like the way they fit, the shoes themselves did not hold up and withtin 4 months the shoelaces started breaking the eyelets on the shoes. All four of the first eyelets were broken by May, I bought them last year in August.
I would not buy another pair. I got my regular Nikes on sale for $15 at buy one get one half off, they were also on the clearance rack, so much better than $100+ and I know they'll hold up.

The trainer at my gym advises people not to buy these. She said the originals (the ones that cost $300+) do give a small workout while you're walking, but that the newer ones like Shape Ups can actually damage the ligaments in your legs or your lower back because they make you walk funny. And, like another poster has said... all of the studies show that these don't give you a workout at all.

I bought shape ups then returned them. They are not worth it. They are like wearing heels and you have to keep your back aligned straight and legs muscles tight so you dont fall over. And if you dont, you will fall.
