Hi moms, I know there are many different cleanses out there, but I'm particulary curious about getting my colon cleansed via the irrigation method and seeking information from those who have had it done or knows someone who has. Do you feel healthier? Do you really lose a few pounds after it's done? Any advice you have would be appreciated. Thanks!

I saw a segment on this on the Doctors TV show. They said the colon is self-cleansing and there is no need to have an extra cleansing. They explained that by eating a healthy diet and allowing the body to work properly, there is no reason to do colonics.

I am not judging and am not trying to be rude, just give you more information to make your decision. I hope it helps.

Good luck.

All you really need to do to have a healthy colon is to eat a high fiber diet with plenty of water. Your stools should look like "soft snakes". Not lumpy logs or hard balls or you are constipated. There is no proven medical benefit to "colon cleansing". You will lose water weight in the beginning with colon cleansing which is not true wt. loss. By the way if you currently don't have a high fiber diet add the fiber slowly to decrease GI discomfort. High fiber foods: fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts. You will feel better and save money!

Hi this is my area of knowledge. I have done it all from coffee enemas, herbal teas, the epsom salt cleanse, etc...

If you are getting colonics done it has to be the gravity method.

This is not a one time thing--you need to have it done on a schedule until you have flushed all of the tar, candida and waste out that has been stuck to your intestinal walls for all of these years. The more often you go back and follow a trained practitioner's advice--do it and then remain on a maintenance schedule. It can help immensely. There are other teas, tinctures and things you can buy from a supplement website or store to help.

You also need to incorporate pH drops for alkalizing your water and a lot of fresh organic fruits and veggies.

My girl friend goes to a place in Chicago and has his done on a regular basis. She says it make her feel like a new woman. http://www.karynraw.com/Inner-Beauty-Center/
Detoxing the body is very important for healthier living is what she says. I have not had this done yet. Don't have the extra money right now but I do do detoxing at home with a ion spa and it helps a little but not as much as doing a colon cleanse.

Also not intending to offend, however I have to believe also that the colon is self cleansing. Really? Stuff stuck for YEARS inside your colon? That seems dubious. Surely it would cause infection if it were lodged somewhere for years?

Really. Eat less. Mostly plants. or so the saying goes...

Colon hydrotherapy can be a great start to a healthier lifestyle. It is contraindicated for anyone who has colitis, diverticulitis, cancer, hemrhoids, pregnant, or nursing. I would not do more than 2 per week. If you really want to cleanse properly, you would need to take proper supplements, eat a specific diet, exercise geared towards cleansing, saunas, constitutional hydrotherapy, massage, and more importantly, be monitored & evaluated by a professional. I run a 6 week natural body cleanse & I'm a Naturopathic Doctor. I can then also refer you to a colon hydrotherapist too. I'm in the office Mon-Thurs. I offer package deals too. ###-###-#### out in Warrenville. www.thehealthdocs.com
