Has Anyone Experienced Dizzy Spells?

I was just wondering if anyone else gets dizzy spells? I've been getting them for 3-4 days and they seem to be getting worse. Sometimes I just feel light headed but other times the room seems to be spinning. I also have noticed I've stumbled a couple of times but nothing drastic. I don't think I'm pregnant but could this be a possible sign? Any help would be great! Thank you!!

What can I do next?

I have the same problem occasionally. A couple of months ago I had an episode that was so bad that I got out of bed and ran into the wall. I did go to the dr's and she told me to take over the counter motion sick pills. It did help a little. She said it was an inner ear imbalance and there was pretty much nothing they could do for it. I find it happens a lot if I am dehydrated too. I hope you feel better soon.

Do you get migraines? For me a dizzy spell is usually my first warning that a migraine is on the way. If I take action as soon as I start feeling dizzy I can usually avoid the migraine all together.

I would say get your ears checked. Just recently I had really bad dizzy spells...worse when changing positions (laying down or standing up). I didn't have any pain for over a week and then finally the pain started. When I went in to get it checked...the doctor said I had one of the worst ear infections she had seen in an adult in a long time. The weird part was I didn't know anything was wrong. Hope this helps.

It could be a sign that you are pregnant or it can also be a sign of an ear infection you might have to go to the doctor and have it checked out. C. V

I've had the same problems.

Ever since I became pregnant with my second child, I would have dizzy spells. I was told at that time it was due to low blood pressure.

BUT with my third pregnancy (and especially labor) it was mainly due to HIGH blood pressure.

I also remember having dizzy spells when I was severely dehydrated back when I was about 18. I had to be in the hospital for 2 days and have an IV.

I still have dizzy spells at this point (my youngest is a year now) and I think that it's mainly because of all the weight that I have put on from the combined pregnancies. I'm now moderately obese and I get warm very easily. I find that first I will get hot and then I'll start to feel dizzy and my vision will start to get kind of hazy.

I find that making sure to wear light clothes and taking as frequent breaks as possible helps out. I am worried about the summer approaching, though.

I am going to sound like my adorable grandmother right now, are you drinking enough water? I get very dizzy if I am not hydrated enough. Definitely go get checked out just in case you are pregnant or if for some reason your sugars are low or something. Just a quick trip to the doctor and you should find something out. Good luck

The only time I had anything like that was when I was pregnant. But I'm sure it can happen for other reasons. You could always just call your clinic and see what they say.

The dizziness can be caused by several things. One of which could be that in early pregnancy some women tend to have lower blood pressure than usual. Another cause of the dizziness could be that your body is not creating enough insulin so your blood sugar levels are a little off.Have you been screened for diatbetes/gestational diabetes? Other causes could be but are not limited to dehydration, low hemoglobin count, hypothyroidism etc. In any case I would definitely phone your OB/Physician today and make an appointment. I am sure that what ever the matter it's probably not serious. However any time that you are getting dizzy enough to make you stumble it is a serious enough matter to phone the Doc right away. After all a tumble could seriously harm you, or your 10 month old little guy should you be carrying him. Good luck B.!

This actually happened to me yesterday and it freaked me out. I think it was from being on my feet for over 10 hours and being extremely exhausted as well as probaly a little dehydrated. I ate, drank a bunch and layed down and felt better shortly after. But it was horrible I would sit on the couch and the entire room was spinning.

sometimes pregnancy throws you into hypo-thyroid-ism. Get your thyroid checked. My sister had the same issues with dizziness, but they were vastly improved when they upped her meds for her thyroid

Are you possibly anemic? My hemoglobin hovered between 7.5-9.0 (I think normal is 11-15?) for years and I was ALWAYS light headed. Also, it could be in inner-ear problem throwing you off balance. I'd call your doctor just to get the piece of mind, and hopefully, a solution. :)

Hey, B....

I experienced that all through my pregnancy. Sometimes that can also be a sign of your blood pressure being on the low side or a middle ear infection. Probably a good thing to call the doc about. Hope you feel 100% soon!

I got vertigo when I was first pregnant with my second ds. I also got it bad when I was bf'ing my twin girls. It turned out I was drinking so much water to keep up with the milk supply I was screwing up my elctrolyte balance (easily remedied with products like gatorade) but could be caused by the opposite (being dehydrated) so make sure you are drinking the correct amount of water. When I went in for the dizziness they checked first in my ears ( I can't recall the name but basically it's like crystals that start growing on the little hairs inside your ears and that can screw up your balance and spatial recognition) so you could go in to the doctor and have them check for that. There may be something wrong with something in your inner ear so I would go check it out if it goes on but then again you could be pregnant:)

Hi B.,

Are you nursing? Since I've been nursing, I notice that I get dizzy when I stand up quickly if I haven't had enough to eat or drink. Oddly, I never had dizzy spells when I was pregnant.

I hope you figure it out!

Hi B.

Years ago when I started experiencing what I called dizzy spells, ended up being mild seizures (there are over 27 kinds). Mine were diagnosed as simple (dizzy spells) and partial complex (when partial, I actually 'checked out' for awhile. No falling to floor etc. but they didn't seem too big of a deal for me). Meds & alternative means are helping me.

One thought - track them, keep a written record, maybe schedule with neurologist. In the tracking include before and after feelings and sensations.

I am available to talk anytime. Good luck.

I've had dizzy spells since college - they often seem to be related to a combination of sleep, food, and stress. If I'm not sleeping well, hungry, and have low-grade constant stress I tend to get them.

I'd been to neurologists and regular doctors without any diagnoses. During pregnancy #3 I had a problem with my vision, and the opthamologist recommended I be tested for a couple of blood clotting problems. Turns out I had one of those.

The one I had was called MTHFR - it's a genetic issue that means your blood's more prone to clotting than other folks. This is something nearly 15% of the population has, but it's not usually an issue. However, if tiny clots get into your brain, they can cause dizzy spells.

You might want to talk to a hemotologist if you're interested in being tested. There's also a thing called ATM deficiency (or ATP? It's been a while) and they diagnosed that first, then undiagnosed it when I was over being pregnant and my levels went back to normal.

You could have something going on in your inner ear. I know I get like that when my equalibruium is off. The chiropractors have something that they can do to help you too. Your best bet is to go to the dr to make sure there is no infection or other medical problem causing this.
