Has Anyone Ever Tried Those Gender Predictor Tests They Sell @ CVS?

Ok, first off, I will admit that I have no patience!

With my first they were able to tell me at my 12 week ultrasound that they were pretty certain it was a boy (they were right). This time they told me no way, too early to tell. Now I am faced with having to wait until week 22 I think to find out and that little gender predictor test is looking pretty tempting LOL

Has anyone tried it? Did it turn out to be accurate? They are like $30 so I don't want to buy it unless its somewhat reliable. Anyone with experience with these things please share!

Thanks mamas! :)

As an ultrasound tech I'm always curious when my patients come in saying they did that test earlier on and are now wondering if it was right. Honestly...half the time it was right, half the time it was wrong. Heck, even I can guess (without using my machine) and be 50% accurate...and you wouldn't even have to pay me!! :)

Wait :) Sometimes even sonograms aren't even correct. Let it be a surprise for a few more weeks.

It tests the acidity of your urine. It's right more than 50% of the time, but it's FAR from 100% accurate (right something like 60% of hte time, which is only slightly better than just flipping a coin). A LOT of other things can affect the acidity of your urine in addition to gender of the baby.

Our local news had two on-air ladies that are/were pregnant. As a news story, they each took the test. The test predicted that both would have boys. One of them had a boy, the other a girl. Buyer beware!

If you do this, please let us know what happens! Good luck!

I was looking into this myself. I even came across someone who sued (really). From what I read the test's default result is boy, and only if you have the "girl" hormone does it change colors (which in my mind leaves a lot of room for error ie time of day, how do they quantify the "girl" hormone, what happens if its a not a clear change of color etc.) From what I read it was still a 50/50 chance of the test being right. If you want to have some fun and start guessing and you don't mind wasting 30 bucks---I'd say go for it. However, the results I read from youtube were more incorrect than correct with actually predicting the gender. Good Luck!
