I'm wondering if anyone has ever made sun tea and how they did it. I know you basically put tea bags in a jug of water and set it in the sun all day, but if you want it sweet do you add sugar to the water first, or wait untill it is done then add the sugar. Also does anyone know any recipes for flavored tea, like rasberry, or peach. TIA for any suggestions!

What can I do next?

I sweetened my sun tea by the glass...that way any company could have it as sweet or unseet as they liked ;-)

For peach sun tea I used 3 tea bags of the bigelow peach tea to 5 bags of the lipton tea an it came out nicley flavored. not overly peachy and not too bitter.

For Basic sun tea You buy one of those inexpensive glss jugs that have the bottom spout and fill with water, the you can either use regular tea bags (i usually use about 8) and adjust for strenght of tea you enjoy; or, you can purchase the sun tea bags that a couple of companies have put out...they are larger in size and i believe you only use one or two at a time...

I hope this helps...

Good luck!!!! ;-)

We would put the tea bags in the jar of water and would leave it out in the sun. I can't remember how long it took (its been many years since I made it that way). We always added the sugar after the tea was done brewing in the sun.

I'm sorry, I don't have any suggestions for the flavored teas.

Good luck and God Bless!

I make sun tea during the summer. I add the sugar before I put it in the sun and just leave it out for the day.

I add the sugar after the tea has finished steeping.

To add flavors, I cook the fruit on the stove, kinda stew it and add a little sugar and refrigerate or freeze the fruit to enhance the flavor, maybe overnight. (Make sure that the seal is tight and it's not watered down.) Then, add it to the water and tea bag and set it out.

If you like to cook, be sure to experiment and use trial and error to figure it out. Those recipes work better for me than anything that's already written out.

I hope that this works for you.
