I don't know about a "flare up". It sounds like you've been re-infected or never truly got rid of them in the first place.
You may need to go to the doctor to make sure that you can get rid of them for good and make sure that's what you're really dealing with.

Best wishes.

Oh god, yes.

Unfortunately, you're not "flaring up", you never got rid of them... and unfortunately that means you've been infecting everyone that has been in your home/car/etc.

It took us SIX MONTHS to get rid of them, and in the final sweep had to completely yank out the carpet, get new mattresses, and at least 1/2 of our furniture, bomb the house while we stayed away for a week... ALL in addition to the meds. It was an absolute nightmare. We'd tried lesser measures in the 6 mo previous (bagging -to suffocate-, freezing, boiling, steaming, etc plus meds)... but it finally took a complete sweep of every bit of fabric or stuffed material in the house to be rid of them. All in all it cost us about 10k.

And we got the infestation to begin with after a 30 minute visit by a friend of a friend who mentioned in passing "It's so great to be out and about, most people won't have me over because of the scabies." At which point, we had him leave... but it was too late.

Miserable, awful, blighted things.

I agree with Kimberley that it sounds like they never left. I got them when we were young when I went to a sleep over. My mom treated everyone in the house and it was gone and never came back.

Hi How can I forget having scabies. Well, I was pregnant with my first child and I couldn't figure what I had until I went to the doctor. I couldn't believe it! It's really itchy, isn't it! The doctor gave me a special cream to put on it and something for me to put in the bath and thank God it went away but I'll never forget that!

Go to the doctor and get a scraping and make sure it is scabies. The lotion has a pesticide in it. You will need to treat every soft surface in your house with the pesticide that kills them and wash all your linins and clothing and everything cloth in hot, hot water; what you cannot wash, put in black plastic bags in the garge for three full weeks. They are so nasty, and itchy. My husband brought these home from the Navy, and one of our children got them too.

It was not a total loss... I was freaking out when the doctor confirmed what it was, so I called my husband at work and told him to stop at Lowes and buy me a new Duet washer and dryer since I had to wash everything, and he did!

Good excuse to get a new, high volume set! I would get one with steam if it happened now!

don't be so quick to think that. They have a life cycle, and they come and go. My husband had several bouts, and ignored it, and it took quite a bit to pass it on, we have three children so only two people in the household got it. Once they get a real foot hold, they can be the devil to get rid of. If you have little bumps, all in a row, go to the doctor, they will scrape a little skin off and look under the microscope. Getting them from bed linens is one way they spread. Our daghter who got them was a real snuggle bug, and she loved her Daddy. Don't know how I avoided them, but I have heard that the first time you get them, they don't make you itch, it is in subsequent times that you have developed a kind of allergic reaction. I would go get it checked.

I agree with the others, I had scabies about 2 yrs ago (from camping) and have never had a flare up. When I got them I went to the dr, he gave me a cream I rubbed it all over, then it seems like a couple days later I did it again. I washed all my sheets and bedding. If I were you, I would go to a dr and get a Rx cream to get rid of them for good.
Good luck!

Yeah, they never left. They live on anything that you sat on, tried on, wore, slept on/in. I got them after a trip to the park with a date. 7 years ago. I did the meds, washed EVERYTHING, bagged stuff, the whole nine yards. Then a year later I went out with my now husband for the first time in a dress that I had completely forgotten I'd tried on ONCE the year before. What do you know. Scabieville. It was sooooo embarrassing and frustrating.

I've never heard of that my daughter has gotten them twice and has never had a flare up I think you might want to go to the doctor and make sure you don't have shingle instead
