Hi,
I would love to find a place that would take the impression of my infants hands and feet. I want it to be a safe product. I went over to Michaels Craft store and all the products there are for an older child or they have lime in the cement that is used. What ever happened to the plain ol' little ceramic circle hand print? Thank you in advance!
I am amazed at how wonderful the response was! Thank you all for the input...I have a lot to go on now and I will let you know what comes of it. One more thing to add to the errand list but I can't wait! :)
By the way this is the first time I have ever asked a question and I thank you all for the support! It's fun to connect with moms even if it is only over the web. :) K.

Footprints N More. I saw that someone else already sent you the link. It is where I had it done for my daughter. They only go by appt. and have one in Tustin and Laguna. They did a great job! The home kit ones generally don't work well and don't look nearly as nice.

I got a shadow box set from Red envelope with white cement for hand and foot prints, and a place for a photo. They don't seem to carry the exact one that I have anymore, but I did find these related items.

Check with a Right Start store. They had a vendor coming into the Manhattan Beach store the last time that we did this. If she's not coming in any time soon, maybe they will share her contact information.

The still have the baby kits that use plaster. Try another Michaels, Joanns or Big Lots. Or try Ebay. I have still seen them in the stores, so maybe yours is just out?
If all else fails, you can buy some plaster of paris at your local craft store, and use a pie tin.

I had my daughter's impressions done in Corona (where I lived) at Little Bitty Prints (www.littlebittyprints.com). They also send out do-it-yourself packages. Not sure where you live but there is a vendor cart at Fashion Island (usually in front of Bloomingdales/Anthropologie, near where they put the xmas tree up) that does the same thing. My daughter cried when they pressed her little hand and foot in the clay (they use pure clay) but it was soooo worth it!!!

Hi K.,
Have you heard of Piggies and Paws? Imprints for Keeps? I know the vendors who do this for a living. Check out their websites. I'm also having a vendor blender in the very near future if you want to attend and get your baby's prints done. You can email me at ____@____.com and I can provide you more details.

Try calling or visiting the Pump Station. They have an independent small company- I think just one woman- who goes there once a month or so. I think the company is called Precious Pawprints or something. The Pump Station is in Santa Monica. I think there's one more somewhere else in LA county. They have a website....google pumpstation santa monica.

Go to Babies R Us. They have a product called: BabyPrints. You can get it either in a picture frame format or a memory box. The print itself is a sponge that is really easy to use. There is no mess and forms quickly. Did it with my daughter 5 yrs ago and just loved it!

You might try googling it. Also I do not where you live but in the city of Monrovia,CA there is a store that you go in with your kid and do arts and crafts. You might try looking for one in your city. Good luck I know its beautiful to have them at that age, mine are 17 and 14.

Where do you live? There is a little children's resale boutique in Encinitas called La Costa Kids. Inside the shop you will find the business card of a woman who will come out to the store and do this for you, along with a sample of her work. We did it with both of our girls, and it came out great! They are now hanging on the wall in each daughter's room. I hope it works for you!

They do a really beautiful job - by far the best I've seen. You can get a hand, foot or both imprinted with your child's name on the bottom. They will even give the print a dusting of pink or blue before they put it in the kiln. I got prints for us and all the grandparents - worth every penny.
Good luck!

I found a great do at home reciep that is all natrual and if your child eats it wont be hurt also it doesn't dry as fast as the cement ones and last a very long time. I used it with my kids as a fathers day gift for daddy and grandpa last year.
The website I found it on is http://crafts.kaboose.com/dough-handprints.html
Hope this helps,

Hi K.-
First of all, congratulations on your baby! When all 3 of my kiddos were newborns, I took them to Color Me Mine and put their handprints and footprints on a piece of pottery. I put their name, birthday, and used the paint color to match their nursery decor.
Hope this helps!!

Hi K.,
I don't know where you are located but check this site out they travel from place to place and I hear they are really good with hand/foot prints and they are in the 562 area code
A little over a year ago I bought a kit at target. I think it was in the craft/scrapbooking area. It is a frame kit with either pink or blue clay on one side, and area for a picture on the other. It was much neater than the plaster I used when my daughter was an infant.

Hi K.,
I'm not sure if you want to do an impression at home (by the way I tried this with a Christmas ornament as a gift for my husband and it didn't go too well, but that could of just been me). Anyway, for last Father's day I had a hand and foot print done with this company:
It's a little pricey, but the result is beautiful and will be something we will keep forever. If you are interested in having this done I would highly recommend this company. The owners are very nice and both myself and my girlfriend ordered an imprint and they both turned out so nice. There are different styles and designs to choose from.

Check out www.littleprintco.com. It is the Little Print Company. The website gives you pricing and a schedule. They usually go to 2-3 baby stores a month. Or you can even call or e-mail Jody to arrange a meeting. Good Luck!

Try the Clay kits at Michael's, Walmart, Target or JoAnn's. They use either Air-Dry clay or baking clay.
