I did hair for 13 years and I have the inside track on what are to me the best. It is all about personal preference because you may be more fast forward like myself or maybe you have the same hair that you have had for years. First of all if you are looking for the whole kit & caboodle there are two options. I think that the Aveda Institute (Masters Studio) is a great place to go. I just sent my Mom there. She is gorgeous and gets highlights, color & cut. It was about $120 with the services and two products. The other place I like to go is Lola Janes in Baywalk. The owners are really cool. My husband & I own a restaurant downtown so I know a bunch of salon people & they are the sweetest. They are a bit more pricey though. So, I dont know if you are on a budget. I go there and can spend up to $150 with tip. I dont buy products because I am still can buy them at cost. I just stopped doing hair about a year ago to devote my time to our business and now we are expecting our first child next Thurs!!!
Good Luck to you!
ps a good idea that is always reassuring is that you get a consultation first. Feel out the salon & stylist & dont be afraid to let them know that you are on a budget if you are. If you get color & highlights, dont get highlights everytime. Get partials or get them every second time. This is something a stylist wont necessarly tell you so that they can up there price!!
Good Luck, Jen

Salon Jack in St. Petersburg is fantastic. Ask for Phil. He is there Tuesdays - Saturdays. It is located at 5242 Central Ave. (this is their second location - the first is in South Tampa).

If it were me, I would try the Aveda Institute in St. Pete. They have tons of great services for really inexpensive prices since it's students working on you. Plus they do spa services for cheap - a 90-minute all over body scrub and massage is $65 - half of what you'd pay at a regular spa - and you are getting Aveda products. Wish I lived closer!

My only caveat is that I haven't been yet. Sometime I will, but it's quite a ways from my house so I could not go there all the time.

Class Act Salon 10754 70th Ave N., Seminole. Ask for Mary Stratis. I have a standing apt. w/her. She is very young, hip, good, conciencious girl. Who just gave me a cool short do. I have never had short hair in my life. Everyone loves it. And she is affordable in an unaffordable industry. This salon is located between seminole blvd and Duhme. South of Park blvd. Your realtor instincts will kick in. I am a stay at home mom w/2 kids getting ready to drop out of this Downturned Real Estate market. It was a wild and successfull ride! Don't forget.Call Mary Stratis at ###-###-####.

That is who I was going to reccomend. JCON!! I live in Seminole, but drive there for hair and spa services. If you want a great pedicure ask for Wanda...you have to book her indvance because she is everybody's favorite. Tim is great at hair, but all of their people are trained very well. ENJOY!
