Hair Needs Help Badly... Home Products???

I am now nearly 3 months posttarum, I am losing my hair (I know normal) but what the issue is... shampoo and conditioner mixed with unbalanced hormone build up. I do not wash my hair everyday because that caused more build up, I have tried changing products and that did not help. I tried "cleansing" products and they left my hair gross, string-like and unmanagable...
I am wondering if anyone knows of home products to help get some build up off and restore my natural oils? I thought I once read that mouth wash would do this, anyone hear of that or tried it? Or anything else??
Thanks!

What can I do next?

i have very fine oily hair so i understand alittle bit. i can't use a conditioner because it just leaves a build up on my hair. and for a shampoo i have to use a clear shampoo with no frangerances. suave puts out a good daily cleansing shampoo. or you may want to talk to a beauty salon and se what they have to say!!!

Hi R.,

I use Dr. Bronner's Castile soap to wash my hair. I was having a hard time with ordinary shampoos leaving buildup, or stripping too much so my natural oils would overproduce. Since I've started using Bronner's there's a big difference. I rinse everyday, but actually wash about once a week. You could wash more often, but everyday leads to over-drying. The day I wash, my hair looks like its straight out of a Pantene commercial, lol, and is a bit more 'fly-away' than I'm used to. The next couple of days its happy and healthy. When it gets too oily, I wash it.

Bronner's is 100% vegetarian - all vegetable oil based, not animal tested, completely biodegradable, and you can not only use it on your hair, but just about everything! It comes in Baby-mild Unscented, which is truly unscented - amazing!, and I think 5 scents, all of which are essential oils - no artificial "Fragrance".

In response to mouthwash: I suppose you could go that route - the alcohol in the mouthwash would certainly remove buildup from your hair and stimulate your scalp to produce more oil, but I guess I wouldn't want to walk around smelling like Scope all day, lol.

Good luck,
Ray

Free & Clear Shampoo & Conditioner: Look in the Pharmacy department or have them get from their wholesaler. Contains no dyes perfumes ect. Or try rinsing with vinegar water.

You could try a vinegar rinse...it removes any buildup on your scalp and hair. Just take some white vinegar mixed with water and pour over your head in the tub or shower. Then wash with normal shampoo and conditioner.

If you want squeaky clean hair, I recommend stopping at the healthfood store and picking up a Tee Tree Oil shampoo. Tee tree oil is stinky, but is excellent for scalp conditions and really gets your hair clean and shiny. It also kills lice, but hopefully you won't need to do that.
You could also skip conditioning in the shower and just use a leave-in conditioner, just on your ends.
