We love Rock Band. 4 people can play at one time. My daughter (7) loves to sing or help me sing. She is not very techno savvy due to not playing games often, so the other stuff is hard. Good luck.
I have a 5.5 year old and a 7.5 year old. We have the wii system and both boys are good with technology. Even my little one is pretty savy with games like Lego Star Wars...better than I am. We are thinking of getting guitar hero or rock band and the more I look into them the more I am confused. They do not make it easy to compare the two products with many similarities yet differences as well. I am wondering if one is better for the younger children than the other. I don't want the 5 year old to get too frustrated when playing with the family.

We prefer the Rock Band series (less skulls and cross bones and ugly/scary backgrounds that Guitar Hero has-more family friendly). We too like the Lego Rock Band-and play it while our 1 year old and 3 year old are in the room (they like to dance and sing and play pretend guitars with us)! The nice thing about the Rock Band series is that if you download a new song to a Rock Band game (you can buy points cards to do this at any store, but you have to be able to get on the internet on your wii), it will show up on all the games. Try Rock Band (esp Lego Rock Band) and you won't be disappointed for your kids!
We have both but just guitars right now. Our 4 year old daughter prefers Lego Rockband. It has a no-fail mode (Super Easy) which is just strumming. The songs are much more family friendly, and over all the difficulty for any Rockband game (we've checked out several from the library) is easier than any Guitar Hero game. The games are interchangeable, to a point. We have GH guitars but are able to play all but the orginal RockBand game.
Good luck and have fun!
Rockband has the guitar, microphone and drum set. Singing can be hard if the kids can't read.
Guitar Hero is just guitar - no singing. You can have two guitars playing. We picked up an extra Guitar Hero guitar at Toys R Us for $10 last year.
We have both, and our boys are 6 and almost 13. They aren't in a video game phase right now, so they haven't played anything in a long time, but my oldest (and my husband) always preferred Guitar Hero. My youngest loves playing with the drum set that goes with Rock Band, but he doesn't turn it on. He just makes up song lyrics and plays the drums while he sings.
Lego Rock Band
kid friendly , no questionable lyrics , my own just turned 6 yr old plays it.
Very easy mode is " no fail" which means even if they don't hit the notes it won'y boo them.
And well it's legos.
Stay away from GH
Guitar Hero is just the Guitar.
Guitar Hero world tour and GH 5 are the ones with the whole band.
Rock Band has more Downloadable content , as well as Lego being more family friendly.
We have a guitar hero and a rockband game, we really like the guitar hero game more! I think the guitar hero game is MUCH more user friendly!!! Even my hubby gets upset with rockband... Good luck and I hope you guys enjoy whatever game you choose!
I've played both and prefer Guitar Hero.
Guitar Hero has guitar, bass, drums and microphone which means the whole family or a group of friends can all play together!
