I had that also and it progressed with each pregnancy. With my 3rd I thougth a foot was going to stick out! lol The only thing that kind of helped was a warm bath, but it's something that didn't go away until I delivered. :)

Oh honey! If you're going through what I delt with in all 4 pregnancies, I feel for you!

With my first pregnancy, one week before my due date, my pelvis started hurting. Bad. I couldn't walk. Stairs were torture. Laying down made me cringe. With my second pregnancy, it started at about 32 weeks. By my fourth baby, I was in pain from the end of the first trimester.

My doctor said it was the ligaments in my pelvis stretching to accomidate childbirth. He didn't think it was any big deal. He'd never given birth before. :) My OB with my last 3 pregnancies suggested tylenol to help with the pain. A warm bath eased it as well. When it got unbearable, he said I could take ibuprophin when I needed it. I saved it for just before bed time.

I also found out sleeping in our recliner instead of laying flat in bed helped ease the pain.

I was going to ask the same thing as another responder - groin vs pubic pain. If it is more like pubic pain you need to mention it to your doctor quickly as it could be a UTI which can be very dangerous during pregnancy and you'd need to get on anti-biotics immediately. The one I had while pregnant didn't hurt while urinating or anything but I had crazy pain super low in my pelvic area (almost felt like the pain was external it was so low).

Does it feel like your vagina is falling out...lol? I had that a little later in my pregnancy (35 weeks or so)...after my baby had dropped. My midwife recommended a support belt, but I went into labor at 37.5 weeks...so I never got a around to buying one that was confortable. Though it did seem to take some of the pressure off when I was trying them on.

Your ligaments are all soft and rubbery right now. I remember feeling like my two pubic bones were rubbing and clicking against each other with every step. Move as slowly as you need to and be careful with twisting and stretching.

Oh the things no one tells us about pregnancy...lol.

Ohhhh yeah. Boy do I remember ;) I had them during my first pregnancy, in the last month or so.

One thing that helped me a lot was doing pelvic rocks, like they teach you in natural birthing classes. Those helped me A LOT. You get on all fours, and basically rock nothing but your pelvis (don't arch or move your back, only your pelvis).

Hope it helps!

This is caused because of the tendons that support your stomach are stretched. I used a sling that went under my tummy and around my back to help support it. With my 3rd child I had a lot of pain. I think you should be able to pick it up at the drug store. It stopped the pain.

Yes, I experienced this after my first was born and then with my twin pregnancy a couple of years later. I thought I had pulled something with my first, but since it came back during my second pregnancy and continued on after the twins' birth until shortly after I weaned, well, now I know it's from weak and relaxed pelvic floor muscles. I know die-hard breastfeeders might have something to say about this issue, but even my doctor told me it would probably start to go away once I weaned as your body produces so much relaxin hormone during pregnancy and breastfeeding that your joints, etc., remain pretty loose even after birth. I did experience a big difference after I weaned and also when I could, I walked a lot after the birth of my boys (who were delivered vaginally). In no way am I suggesting you shouldn't breastfeed, by the way! But you should try some pelvic floor strengthening exercises (kegels, etc.) and also trying walking as much as you can and sleeping with a pillow between your legs. All of those things helped me before and after my pregnancy. My boys are 10 months now and I haven't had that groin pain in more than three months, thank God! But I do still sleep with a pillow between my legs to align my hips and also try to walk and exercise often (which isn't as often as I'd like!). Anyway, try all of those things - especially the kegel exercises - and don't forget to mention it to your doctor!

Was it your groin, or was it in the pubic area? I know it sounds like a silly question, but the groin is physiologically different and usually refers to the area where the legs join the torso vs. the reproductive areas.

If it was vaginal pain, I'd contact your OB just to be sure. If it's groin related, I'd still mention it as it could be related to your pelvis being out of line, an infection that has caused lymph nodes in the groin area to swell and be tender, etc.

Good luck.

I am currently about 36 weeks in my second pregnancy and have been having groin pain as well - I also didn't have it with my first. I was told that it is due to the hips/pelvis spreading more readily the second time around. I have found a couple of things that help - don't stay in one position too long - move around as much as you can and if I know I am going to be sitting for a long time I wear one of those pregnancy harnesses - it seems to keep everything in the right place a little better which lessens the pain. I will say that it has gotten a bit better in the last week so hopefully yours will too.
