GREAT Pediatrician Needed

I had my baby at 23 weeks in mid November. She is still in the hospital but will be coming home in the next month to month and a half (hopefully). I need to find a pediatrician that is very comfortable with caring for preemies and knowledgeable about preemies. One who actally takes part and interacts with the children rather than just talking to the parents. If anyone knows a good pediatrician in the San Antonio area...it doesn't matter where in San Antonio, please let me know. I live in Converse but am very familiar with all of San Antonio!

Thanks!

we're very happy with dr. abrams and the other pediatricians at NW pediatric associates at huebner and bandera ###-###-####. even when i call at 3:15 saying the teacher thinks my kid has an ear infection, they tell me to drive right over and they fit us in.

good luck to you and your baby!

Hi L.,

Congratulations on your baby!

We absolutely love our Pediatrician. He is on Stone Oak Parkway. Dr. Daniel Trevino ###-###-####. He is awesome with my kids. Extremely caring and friendly. The office staff is nice as well. I have a 4 yr old and a 11 month old. Both of my children love him.

Good Luck!

I love my kids' pediatrician! We see Dr. Gonzalez at ABCD Pediatrics in Stone Oak but I know that they also have a location in Schertz which might be closer. The number to that location is ###-###-####. I have not been to that location but the one in Stone Oak has two sides so the sick kids and regular check up kids are kept separated a little bit and I have always been able to get in same-day when one of the kids were sick. Usually I can see our regular Ped but if she is unavailable, they have someone else step in and I have never had a bad experience. The office we went to before was awful so this was a tremendous relief. Dr. Gonzalez speaks to the kids, not just me and always tries to get the entire scoop before making a diagnoses as well as being very pleasant the whole time. A sweet woman, she is perfect for kids!

Good luck in your search and I wish the best for your daughter!

I have a great practice - it is the med center at Medical and Babcock. It would be a little bit of a drive, but I think worth it. We use Dr. Lewis Purnell and have seen all the docs in the practice and all of them are great. It is Southwest Childrens Center 646-TOTS. We almost never have to wait to get into an appointment, then once there we have almost no wait getting to see the doc. I have been so very happy with them. I have used other Pediatricans in town and had to wait so long.

As a matter of fact every time I went the wait was 1 hour plus. That was to get into the room, then we would often wait another hour once in the room. I know longer accept that as I may not be a doctor, but my time is just as valuable, especially when you have a sick kid or trying to keep a well one well! Even if the doc is great if they or their staff can't keep things moving and you constantly have to wait, find another. There are lots of great ones!

I also know of one on the edge of Boerne who is seeing a friend of mines premie twins and it is Dr. Jeffery Henderson. He is a great man and a great doc and if we ever needed to change . . .

Congratulations on your little one and good luck with a doctor.
