Good Schools in Suwannee

I leave on the other side of Suwanee. Have you thought about Walnut Grove ele? Its a great school with a really neat staff. And the test scores for Collins hill High school are better than North Gwinnett.

While you are looking into Elm schools- you need to see which middle and high schools they feed into. Also Gwinnett County has horrible taxes and the crime is moving outwards towards Suwanee and other outlying cities beyond Lawrenceville, etc. Look into South Forsyth- 13th affluent county in the nation, the best schools all the way through high school and a huge number of SAHMs. New shopping arriving daily! Check out the planned avenues at 141 &400 (exit 13)! Sharon Elm is in Suwanee and actually in S. Forsyth, not Gwinnett and feeds into SF Middle and the new Lambert High. One of the best districts out there. If you plan on being here long term, my best advice is to stay out of Gwinnett. Your home will appreciate much more in Forsyth and you won't have to deal with all of Gwinnett County's growing problems. Good Luck!

Hi! All 3 of the schools you stated are very good. My son is a Kindergartner at Level Creek and I have been very pleased. If you are looking into good childcare, Horizon Baptist in Lawrenceville is great, Shadowbrook Baptist in Suwanee is good too. LEgacy Academy is a good childcare too.

Riverside, Level Creek and Suwanee Elementary are all three excellent schools in this area. You really can't do wrong with either one. We've been in this area for about 5 1/2 years and we originially lived in a house in the Suwanee district and were pleased because it is known for being a good school. About two years ago we decided that it was in our family's best interest to find a smaller house so we started house hunting. I was only looking in the districts in those three schools zones because they are all fantastic. My son is now in first grade at Level Creek and we love it. The teacher he had for kindergarten was amazing and I hope my daughter gets her when she goes to kindergarten in the fall, but honestly I heard fantastic things about the other teachers so I'm not worried. His teacher this year is just as fantastic. I am very pleased with the administrators and the teachers and the school in general. They welcome parent involvement and both teachers have welcomed notes and emails and answer them the day they get them and I appreciate their availability and immediate feedback.

I live in Alpharetta which is south (and a bit west) of Suwanee but north of Norcross...so sort of in between.

The earlier mom's response about commute time is very important to consider. But, if you're concerned about schools (which I was when I moved here from California) then you probably won't want to live in the Norcross area. Alpharetta has great schools but you get less house for your money. Not sure what your price range is but Suwanee definitely has more value when purchasing a home.

A couple of other schools you might want to consider are Settles Bridge and Sharon, located at the border of Suwanee and Cumming. Cumming is also a great area to live and about the same distance to Norcross (as long as you're in the southern/eastern most part of Cumming).

There is some new construction there that is very affordable and they have swim/tennis in the n'hoods.

I'm a realtor and I've sold houses to people in these areas and only hear very good things about the schools. If you are interested I can send you lists of homes in your price range and geographic area so you can see what you get for your money in these different school districts. Also, can put you in touch with others that have moved here from out of state.

As an agent, who has asked one of the agents who moved to our community and whose husband works in Cumming, AND who could live any where, She picked the Flowery Branch schools. Taxes are better,and she has a child in every school, elementary, middle, and high.

I live in South Forsyth. My children aren't in school yet but I have heard great things about the schools. My neighborhood is districted to Big Creek Elm. and I've have heard only wonderful things about it. I know there is a new Elm. school that is supposed to be built in the next couple years so there will be some re-districting. I hope everything works out for you.

I am originally from Texas and wanted to share with you something I learned quickly after moving to this area. Mileage means nothing. Where I was from, if a store was 15 miles from home, it generally took 15-20 minutes to get there. My husband works 13 miles from our house, and during traffic times, it can take him 45 minutes to an hour to arrive. You mentioned that you haven't been here yet; has your husband? if not, he may want to inquire with new co-workers about commute to his office from the general area in which you are looking to live. norcross and suwanee may look close on a map, but depending are where his office is located, it can be a nightmare to get there. when we were looking to purchase our first home, my husband left our apartment early one morning to leave from our perpective home's driveway and drive to work during his normal time. we were quite surprised at what we found. just a thought i wanted to share since you haven't been to this area, yet.
