A great place to camp and I HIGHLY recommend it is Bastrop State Park. (especially if you need to shower)It's a beautiful park, lots of hiking, and you can even get to Buesher State Park via the park road.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a place to go camping with a 12 month old, 4 year old and 6 adults? We will be camping in tents, would like water near by for swimming, plenty of trees and lots of beauty. Showers would be nice too (since I'm not a roughin' it kind of gal. ha-ha! Something other than Garner park or Enchanted Rock. We don't mind driving up to 2 or 3 hours. Lastly, I need a port replaced on my Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop. Anyone know of a someone who can fix/replace this (relatively cheap) with a quick turn around? Thanks!

I used Logic Approach on South Lamar and was pleased with their work and prices.
Our family enjoys Lake Fairfield State Park - probably our favorite. Lots of sites right on the water and since it is farther from large towns not usually so crowded. Inks is pretty too but can be crowded since it is close to Austin. Same for Pedernales Falls - pretty (although tent sites can be small and crowded with trailers) with great natural features - but can be crowded since close to Austin. We are going to try Meridian State Park next weekend. McKinney Falls State Park is right here in Austin and has some good (and some bad) tent sites - lots of trailers too though. You can hear traffic and planes and such from town but SO convenient.
I have heard good things about the State Park in Bastrop, but we have never tried it.
Inks Lake State Park (just outside Burnet) is fun. If you go to Inks, buy tamales from Tamale King in nearby Buchanan Dam!
We really like the rio raft and resort. You can visit their website at www.rioraft.com it has tent, rv and cabins it is near Gruene Texas which is between here and San Antonio. it has a pool and is also right on the Guadalupe River.
Hello. I have a suggesting on camping. My husband & I have campled several times at Canyon of the Eagels. It's in Burnet, the lake is Lake Buchannan. Website is www.canyonoftheeagles.com. You can tent camp or rent a cabin. The food is the restaurant is amazing and the views are amazing. There's canoeing, swimming stargazing and live music on some evenings. Far enough away from the city to enjoy the experience.
Best of Luck!

Altex is a good computer shop. Their computers are reasonably prices as are the repairs that I have had to get done. They also don't try to sell you on things that you don't need.
Jellystone Park rocks!! That is a really great place to go.
The bad news is that I am not sure if it was damaged from Ike. It is about 2 hours from here in Waller, which is between here and Houston. This is their website.

Computer Repair:
The best place in town is Laboratory Computers on N. Lamar. It is like a block south of the 1/2 Price Books at Koening and Lamar. Ask them for directions because you can't see them from the road in their new place.

Bastrop State Park is a beautiful, family friendly place to camp. It has pads to place you tent on if you want. Great facilities and really does not take more than a 45 minute drive. You feel like you are in a whole other State will all of the huge Pine Trees.
Emma Long Park off of 2222 and City Park Road. It is family friendly, but can be crowded on holiday weekends. It is like camping in a big Park, and it is on Lake Austin.
have you been to City Park which is located off of FM 2222? I can't remember if it has showers but you can definitely camp there and it's very easy to access.
