Hello,
I would like to take my kids to see a fun street with lots of exciting Christmas lights. Do any of you know of a fun and safe street that we can walk around and enjoy all the great lights and decorations? Of course there are lights in our neighborhood, but it would be fun to see LOTS of lights and over-the-top decor!
We live in long beach, so something close to us would be great.
Thanks!!

Hi, I haven't been ther yet but, there is a place called Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo. It's supposed to be spectacular. You can probably search it on the web. Happy Holidays.

Hi M.,
In Torrance they have what they call Candy Cane Lane - Off Calle Mayor and PCH - you can follow the signs.
Directly off PCH cross street is Calle Mayor. It gets bigger and bigger every year. Brilliant display.
You used to be able to drive thru not sure about now if you have to get out and walk or not.
Go early at the first sign of nightfall to avoid the long lines.
Happy Holidays!

The most spectacular neighborhood I have ever seen is in Torrance. I've never seen anything like it. It is the Sleepy Hollow neighborhood in southwest Torrance. Very much worth the drive. Every house is incredibly elaborate and all of the trees are lit across every street. People are out in their driveways with hot chocolate and fire pits. Go to the Daily Breeze (newspaper).com and type in Sleepy Hollow Christmas lights. There are some photos. I highly recommend it! Your kids won't believe their eyes..and neither will you! Happy Holidays!

Hi M.,
My family and I have a yearly tradition of walking around Naples in Long Beach. The houses in that community have a decorating contest every year and so the neighborhood is "aglow". In past years we have also enjoyed carolers and purchased hot cider from the local boy scout troop while on our walks. What is even more intriguing are the gondolas that cruise about in the canal. The gondoleers all sing Christmas carols to their patrons. There is nothing quite like it. We have taken friends and relatives over these many years and it has not disappointed once!

Christmas Tree Lane, is in Long Beach in the Wrigley neighborhood, Daisy Lane. You can walk it or drive it. Also Naples has lights up along the canals every night. You can walk them during the week when it is less crowded. Happy Strolling,
Wendy a Long Beach neighbor!

Naples...the best place to see amazing houses and boats decorated with tons of lights and holiday decorations. The best part is that you can just walk around the islands and not worry about driving. We've been going since I was a little girl and I still love it!
Happy Holidays!!

Hi M.,
I have to second Katherine W.'s response if you are looking for something local. My cousin used to live near there, and it seems like every house on that street decorates.

Monday's Long Beach Press Telegram had the address of some houses that went all out. I'm not sure if you can get to the article online, but here are the addresses of the houses that were listed as award winners (most of these are down around Naples):

5952 Appian Way
30 The Colonnade (Naples)
257 and 241 St. Joseph Ave (Belmont Shore)
2303 Ocean Blvd.

2055 Daisy Ave

I also have to give a shout out to two of my neighbors that live on Claremore in El Dorado Park Estates (on the north side of Claremore, I think their addresses are 3940 and 3510). One is a two-story house that has all kinds of inflatables and lights. We walk my daughter over there every few nights, and I ran into one of my neighbors with small kids who says she brings her daughters over every night. They go all out for all the major holidays.

There is a neighborhood (university tract) it's off the 405 & Valleyview exit
The cross streets will be Westminster & Bolsa Chica...coming from Long Beach you would get off of the 405 @ Valleyview/Bolsa Chica make a right go up to Westminster make a U Turn (you'll see the street as you pass) After you turn around it is your 1st right (I am pretty sure) It is a cultisac but nearly every house it decorated with LOTS of lights & themed decorations...it's a nice walk!
My 13 month old daughter enjoyed it last week :)
Happy Holidays

I have to second the motion on the torrance neighborhood! It's insane! Every house makes their tree look like a chandelier, and when you're at the end of the block looking down you feel like you're in a fancy hotel ballroom. It's truely stunning. Very crowded, but if you get out and walk there's always carolers, santas, and kids selling warm cookies and hot cocoa or spiced apple cider. Be prepared to sit in your car waitiing to get into the neighborhood though. It's totally worth the hassle, better lights than naples in my opinion.
Merry Christmas.

Stearns between Bellflower and Palo Verde (Target / Trader Joes) has some amazing houses too. I wouldn't say the whole neighborhood is aglow but there are definitely a handful of amazing houses.

Via del golfo is the strand in Naples and that is pretty cool as well. The boat parade was last wekeend but I am sure there are still many houses to see!
