What kind of salads, Any preferences? I have a weight watcher recipe book that I just love.
Please let me know

I'm looking for salad recipes that taste really good. But when searching on the internet I'll find salad recipes that sound really good but the fat grams and calories are really high. So it doesn't really make it a very healthy alternative. So does anyone have any tasty, low-fat/low-cal salad recipes or a website w/ low-fat/low cal recipes?
I'm also hoping I can find some that are filling so I won't be hungry in an hour. Maybe some pasta or fruit salads too?
Thanks
A.

Adding a little grilled chicken breast to a regular salad will help. The chicken is low in fat and helps fill you up faster and it is something that is easy. It is the dressing that gets you in the fat and calories. Even some boneless prok chop would work. You can grill or cook it in skillet, cut it into strips or bite size peices and keep in fridge to add to salad in mornings on the way out the door. You can also try eating an apple as desert to your salad to help you hold of hunger if you don't want to add meat.
I have a very filling veggie salad that we LOVE to have for lunches. It's high in protein and fiber.. so it'll keep you fuller longer.
Veggies that you like, cut up - I like to keep it interesting, so cut them all up differently... some I actually cut with the 'fancy' cheap ripple cutter. We use cucumber, zucchini, carrot, celery, red pepper, red onion, and scallions.
Sun-dried tomato vinegrette (sp?)
1 can drained cannellini beans
Good pitted olives (we don't always use this)
Crumbled feta
It's awesome. Hope you enjoy it. We use this dressing because it's packed with flavor and we don't have to drown any of it.. just toss them all. I put it in a big baggy and we use it as sides for meals as well as lunch salads.

Any kind of veggies will make a great salad, just stay away from starchy ones.
Don't forget that most of the calories may come from the kind of dressing to put on top of it. I personally try to stick with lemon, salt, pepper and few drops of olive oil, or vinegar, salt, pepper and again, few drops of olive oil.
The "low fat" or "reduce fat" dressings pre-bottled, are not the best for your diet. They have hidden calories and a lot of sodium.
Make your own with different flavored vinegars.
Also if you include something with high protein, like breast turkey strips, chicken, even tiny strips of lean red meat, will keep you satisfied longer.
I personally like a lot of baby carrots in my salad. I found that them keep me satisfied longer and are packed in fiber and vitamins.
Well, good luck in your journey. You are not alone in this "every day" fight to keep a healthy way of eating.
PD I'm a "public libraries fanatic" and every time I go, I try to get a book related to "healthy eating" and they have a lot of specific salads receipes. You will be surprise of how many convinations you will find and also they tell you all the nutrition facts of every receipe provided.
