Good Carpet Cleaners?

Hi, we are thinking of getting a carpet cleaner for our home and I wanted to know if there is anything out there that other Mom's really like. We are kind of hoping to find one where price and quality meets if that makes sense. I have a hand held one but between 4 cats, an 18 month old and watching a little boy who is also potty training the hand held just doesn't cut it. I like to do a lot of research before making a large purchase and reviews are a big part of it, so what works best?

What can I do next?

I don't know about a machine. However the best stuff I've found for spot cleaning is the spray cleaner from the Dollar Tree called Awesome Carpet Spot and Stain Cleaner. Even get's up Cat Yak without a trace.

I have used "Red Juice" from the Clean Team. They are in CA, just east of sacramento and they send out.
It is a concentrate and I order several bottles that last a year. It's non toxic, bio, and oderless. It has taken stubborn spots from my carpet. Recently I was dyeing my hair and a few drops spilled on my carpet. I poured some red juice over it and it came out with out staining my carpet. I was very impressed and happy I had it on hand.

Hi M.,
I can highly recommend Naturally Clean Carpet and Floor Care located in Bend. They use earth friendly/non-toxic cleaners to protect the children and animals that crawl around on the carpets. The carpets are pretty much dry in an hour, the price is very competative and they are friendly and thorough. They call the next day to make sure everything is satisfactory and will come back out for free or refund your money if not satisfied. It is a husband and wife operation that I have used twice now and am really happy with them. You can check them out on their website at www.itsnaturallyclean.com or call ###-###-####.
Hope this helps - good luck!

I have a hoover steam cleaner and it works really well. We have carpet in every room in our house so I need a steam cleaner. These usually run $129 to $150. It has attachments also so you can steam clean your vehicle seats and floors as well.

Hi M....I'm J.. I'm here in Post Falls, and we moved here three years ago. Our downstairs -light gray - carpet was a mess, and I almost tore it out when my daughter, 21, went
shopping with me at Walmart and she showed me the Bissell
carpet shampooer (the green one is about $69). She cleaned her white carpet in a mobile home she had using the Bissell
with Solumel and Tough and Tender cleaners, and she loved the
results. When she first moved in, she had some guys come in
and professionally steam clean that carpet, and she had a
really bad allergic reaction to the chemicals they used. Not
only did her carpet get cleaner with her own little machine,
but Solumel and Tough and Tender are healthier and safer for
your lungs, and she could breath afterwards! So, I bought the shampooer and did the same thing to my light gray carpet with excellent results! If you want to hear the story from my daughter, or ask her any questions, e-mail her at ____@____.com. I'm sure she'll be happy to tell
you more.
I think you'll be really happy with this combination.

I used to have a Bissel Proheat. It was a bear to clean and it kept getting clogged with carpet fibers. Twice I had to pay $50-$100 to get it unclogged and then I just got fed up. I currently have a Royal carpet cleaner and I really like it. It comes apart very easy and comes with a slender tool to reach the few spots that do not just rinse clean with the faucet. I got mine at Super Sew and Vac near where Kent-Kangley intersects Benson.

We just got the Bissel ProHeat Upright, I attached the link below to their product website:
http://www.bissell.com/Products/p/ProHeat+2X/product.aspx

It is $229.00 and we bought it at Walmart. On the recommendation of a friend and we are thrilled. We have 2 dogs and a 2.5 yr old and many other kids running around at any given point and I think it does a great spot job as well as all over cleaning.

As soon as we got it I did the entire house over the course of 2 days and my husband was thrilled. Now I use the hose arm/brush for spot cleaning and it is working really well.

The Rug Doctor by Bissell I believe is the best on the market. Quite spendy, so I find it more convenient to rent. I think it runs for about $500.00 dollars to buy. And for that amount I would hope it's the best on the market, lol. We just recently rented one not too long ago, and it worked great! Our house has never smelled better! Hope that helps.

We used the Rug Doctor also. It took twice as long, but we got better results than ANY carpet cleaner we have used...and we have spent thousands over the course of the years. We kept (rented)the machine for 2 days. Best money we EVER spent. And an amazing workout. Have your man do it, before you know it, he will be shirtless and you can get a show for free!

We had great luck with Nells carpet cleaner. They are a small family run business that does a special kind of carbinated cleaning... anyways, they are safe for pets/kids with out using harsh chemicals or cleaners (really important for little ones who are crawling or hanging out on the ground a lot!) and aren't super expensive. If you want there number you can message me back. They are super friendly and our carpets looked great!

My husband was a carpet cleaner for eight years and has mentioned a stem cleaner works better, when you use a stem cleaner it does not take as long to dry either. Call many companies and get quotes in writing then decide by word of mouth in your area what people suggest. Make sure the company you call has a truck mount steamer not a shampoo kind. A shampoo cleaner will make residue on your carpets and cause soap build up plus take longer to dry and might even cause mold.

Might be helpful glad iwas able to put in my in put. Have a great weekend.

I do not know of a particular brand of carpet cleaner but I do have a product that is ideal to put into a carpet cleaner. It is called PureAyre. It is an all organically grown, food grade odor eliminator and cat fancy recommends it as the #1 Odor Eliminator on the Market. It is not just for cats, however, it is for every odor you can imagine starting with the diaper pail, kitty litter, cooking broccoli and cauliflower, fish, refrigerator, smelly shoes, in the bathroom and in the laundry. It is safe enough to use as a breath freshener. The MSDS report says that the only side effect if one ingests it is that it can help an acid stomach. It beats Febreeze which is toxic. It is also safe for chemical sensitives and asthmatics. It is a plant derived enzyme, distilled water and Organic food Grade Peppermint Oil. The Enzyme breaks down the chemical or odor by breaking the bond so it is no longer the same chemical as in ammonia for example. People who would be allergic to ammonia would not be allergic to it after this was sprayed on it. It will even take urine out of carpets and sub-flooring.
The other product for cleaning is Orange TKO. It is also Organically Grown and it is a concentrate. We guarantee it will take out any stains and it also works as a natural pesticide. It works on flees, ants bees, aphids, but safe for plants, spiders, etc. I personally used it for lice and it was the only thing that worked. It cleans anything and you just use a little bit. An 8 oz bottle will make 4-6 gallons. When used straight it cleans permanent marker, crayons, wax, adhesive (the best), tar, sap, etc. It is safe for septic tanks. Between the 2 of these products there is no need for any other cleaner in your home and it is safe enough to have the kids crawl on.
If you or anyone is interested you are welcome to call me. These are not multilevel products. We represent the companies because we sell them in our clinic because we specialize in allergies and these are safe!
My name is C. and my number is ###-###-#### or ###-###-#### Cell.

Hi M.!
I have no advice as to which carpet cleaner is best, but I did return a Bissel one that I had problems with once. I have a Hoover now- which seems to be better quality.
Since your lil guy is under 5 yrs old, look into Kawasaki Disease before cleaning your carpets. My baby was 15 mos when I cleaned mine and within a week he was very ill with Kawasaki Disease. There are suspicions of it being linked to carpet cleaning because it is the common denominator in MOST cases. The child ends up with a high fever, rash, and puffiness that can go undetected very easily. Alot of children die, or end up with heart complications if it goes untreated right away. Our son had a mild case, and is thankfully healthy, but definitely rare.
I haven't cleaned any carpets since, and my hoover sits in the garage. I cringe every time I see it.

If you do decide to clean your carpets, do it while the baby is out of the house, and make sure the carpets are COMPLETELY dry before letting your baby crawl around on them. There is suspicion that the chemicals in the cleaners and the 150 or more chemicals in your carpet, can mix together and be very toxic. This disease is very rare, but better safe than sorry.
check out a Kawasaki Disease forum to read a little more about it.
I hope other mom's read this post and do the same. It's a very scary thing that not alot of parents are aware of.

I think ours is a bissell too, we got it at costco for around 200. Works great with messy toddlers and cats! And our carpet is almost white, the hardest stains to get out are red ones. It helps if we pretreat the stains the night before we clean too. Good luck!

I have a Bissell Pro-heat and they are around $200-225. I love it! I am not thrilled with the upholstery attachment, though, but I hardly ever have cause to use that. Mine is about 4-5 years old and still going strong. Perhaps the new ones have a better upholstery attachment?? Mine was simple to figure out, too. With a toddler, two older kids and a puppy, it sits in my living room and I use it at least twice a week to get "trouble spots." Do your research and comparison shopping and I'm sure you won't be disappointed in your choice!
