I am looking for some good recommendations for a moisturizing bubble bath and/or lotion for a 1 year old. This time of year his skin gets really dry. California Baby seems to work really well but doesn't really lather up in the bath. Suggestions?

I personally like Aveeno baby lotion and they also make a powder that you put in the water. I like it because it has oatmeal in it. I used the powder for the bath when my duaghter had really bad heat rash on her back and stomach and it worked great. The lotion the have in lavender for bedtime and it really relaxes her and she goes to sleep right after her bath. Good Luck!

There's really no need for bubble bath if it's drying out your son's skin. After 1 winter of severe eczema, I threw out all our bubble bath. We now play in plain bath water, and we do all the washing at the very end (Burts Bees or Aveeno products). Then, as the water drains, I have my daughter stand up and I spray her with the handheld shower head to get all the soap residue off. Finally, I use Burts Bees apricot oil on her "trouble" spots - knees, tummy, elbows. Also remember that kids this age really don't need a daily bath - 2-3x per week should be enough to keep him clean without drying him out.

And don't forget that skin and hair health is directly linked to nutrition - make sure he's getting plenty of fluids and the right amount of healthy oils. Add a teaspoon of flax oil to his oatmeal, make sure you cook with olive oil or another healthy oil. Seriously, this really does make a difference!

Hi A. --

I love Shaklee's organic baby wash and lotion, very concentrated - I used way too much the first time. LOL

Bubble bath is notorious for causing UTI's in kids, so we avoid that.

Best of health,

We also use california baby. You said it yourself that it works well. We have recently began using organic products and one thing you need to keep in mind is that natural or organic materials are not the same... meaning that the soapy lather may not be there but the product is still doing its job. Bubbles do not equal cleanliness. It is still working. Who needs lather anyway? Just remember this... California Baby products have one of the lowest rankings of chemical content, ranked 0-3, 9 being the highest. Check out http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/index.php?nothanks=1 and see where Johnson & Johnson falls on the list, 7-9. Click on baby products.
You should be concerned with what is in the lotion not the lather.

I love Burt's Bee's. I use the buttermilk Baby Burt's on my daughter. It goes on a little greasy, but it last forever, because it's made with bee's wax. I really don't buy any other lotions or chap stick other then burt's. I will say this. Read your ingredients. Any word that ends in -ol is an alcohol. And it will actually dry the skin out. They do this alot in chap sticks so you use more of their products.

If he has really dry skin - try oatmeal baths also - they really moisturize well. But, I'd stay away from bubble bath - it's fun for the kids - but really not that great for them. There are organic bubble baths out there to use - but I wouldn't use them all that much. Also - stay away from fragrances in the body wash and lotions - they can be very irritating to the skin.

I like California baby, and Nature's Baby lines. However, I understood that bubble bath is for children 3 and over, and I've heard that it's not good for younger children. I usually just squeezed some bath soap instead of getting the bubble bath mix.

My son has sensitive skin. I used to be a ble to find an Elmo bubble bath for sensitive skin that was wonderful, but I'm not sure they still make it...i can't find it. I use Cetaphil soap and Cetaphil cream (not lotion) and it is great.
