My sister-in-law gave my children a wooden cross each. The cross is about 6 to 8 inches and is ingraved with their name and baptism date. I love them. I think she when to Things Remembered.
Any thoughts of someting my husband and I could do for our godson for his babtisim. Something that is inexpensive. We already bought him a personilized bible, but I wanted to do something a little extra special. Any ideas would be very much appreciated. This is the first babtisim I have been to. Thank you
Thank you for all your wonderful ideas. I am sticking w/ the bible and making an amazing cake for the party. I love to bake and must say I make bakery quality cakes. So I thought I would offer it to my girlfreind, and she said yes, and actually cancelled the cake she had ordered from a high end bakery!!! I was very flattered to say the least! Thanks again for all of your help!

Our favorite thing we recieved was a wooden block with our daughter's initials and the date and who its from. They are really nice and pretty inexpensive. www.craft-e-family.com
I have ordered a few things from this company and they are always very prompt.
We received a saint charm for our son as well as a Saint pin which can be pinned on their gown and then on their crib bedding (low end of course). You can find them gold-filled so they are much less expensive. We found it on-line and you can also find in Christian Stores (there is one in Orland as well as Chicago Heights - not sure where you are located). You could also get him a cross to hang in his room. We have given a small cross, personalized baptism frame or cross to hang in child's room for our god children.
A small crucifix to hang in his room is always nice.
My baby's godmother gave us a photo album from Things Remembered. The cover is silver and she had it engraved with a cross, baby's name, the date of his baptim, etc. Then, she put pictures from the day in it. I thought this was great!
For both of my godchildren, I got a polished wooden box that had a nameplate on the top that I the phrase, "For my Godson" engraved upon it. Then for all the major occassions throughout the year (Easter, Christmas, Birthdays), I send him a card, a handwritten letter, and sometimes a photograph that their mothers put inside the box for safe keeping.
Not sure if this is the way you wanted to go but my daughter's godfather got her a Series E bond. you pay for half of the face value so you pay $25.00 for a $50.00 bond. It matures in value over 30 years or until it's cashed. Good luck!
Hi C.~
Both of my children (8 mo daughter & 4yr son), received baby sized gold chains with a cross charm on them. My daughter received hers right before the Christening ceremony, so we actually had her wearing it thru the ceremony & luncheon. I, myself, was very touched by the gift. I thought it was gorgeous & very heartfelt.

The personalized kids bible is by far the best thing... all my kdis got one and I love it. If you want to add another gift we did get a cross plaque with my sons name engraved... another inexpensive nice gift I got was a small photo album like 10 pictures from his baptism with captions under it
Its called a phot sharing card and I think they are like $7 for the small and $15 for one that is quite a bit more decorative and holds more pictures. Then you add pictures and write with a black sharpie I got them from a CM person for my kids baptism and I really did think it was thoughful her email is - ____@____.com or her website

The photo sharing card may not be on the site because they are discontinuing them but you can email her.
What a blessed time!! :)
I've received many savings bonds for my daughters at their baptism-which is always appreciated. My older daughter received a Willow tree "Guardian Angel" statue, which I like a lot. They sell them at Carsons and they're inexpensive. I think the personalized bible is a very special gift and something he'll always have.
What I've done for special occasions like this is to make a little photo book of all the people and animals who love this little child. I just buy a small 3x5 or 4x6 photo album from Walgreens and put a picture of the child on the front page. Make sure the photos are of head shots and fill up the frame. Little kids as they grow older love to look at this as they grow up. Another thng I've done, is find a beautiful small box for his dresser and put some cash in it toward his future. Personal letters of hope and looking toward the future are wonderful as well as an acrostic of his name with descriptive characteristics, may be done artistically and framed. Have fun and happy baptism!
Since you have gotten a lot of GREAT ideas for Religious gifts, I thought I would go another route. Have you considered a set of coins for this year? We had an Aunt who would get our children a set for each year, on their birthday. The first set is now going for over $300, and was around $30 to buy. You could get it now and get him one for each of his birthdays. My 7 year old LOVES to look at them now and since they come in a plastic container he can't ruin them.
Good luck!

Perhaps a personalized "Godchild" Christmas tree ornament? I think Hallmark sells them.
