Gifts from Santa

Just curious.... at what age after your kids stopped believing in Santa did you stop giving gifts from him? Did Santa stop giving them gifts as soon as they stopped believing, or did you continue to give them from him "just because"? My kids have figured it out or are close to figuring it out, but I thought I'd still give them Santa gifts for a while, just for the spirit of things. Eventually, though, I know I'll have to stop and I was just wondering when you stopped doing it. My MIL gave my husband and I Santa gifts until our first child was born, so I realize there could be a wide range of answers. I'm just curious!

What can I do next?

My children still believe, but as a child my own parents continued to give gifts from Father Christmas until well into teenhood. We also received gifts from all sorts of other weird and wonderful characters including the Bookworms, the Mermaids, the Cows (we lived on a farm), and even Mr Hanky the Christmas Poo from South Park. My mother had a great imagination!

We never stop giving Santa gifts. I think it's fun even though my kids are 12 and 15 and obviously don't believe in Santa anymore. They play along (sometimes with sarcasm), but we all celebrate the "magic" and feeling of goodwill that we think Santa brings.

My mom gave me a stocking from Santa until I was in my 30s and had kids of my own. Then my kids got my Santa stuff. (-:

We still do Santa gifts with my parents and my brother, and my brother and I are all grown up.

Usually one of us will buy a gift and mark it from "Santa" and leave it under the tree. Then no one will admit to buying it. Last year Santa brought me Lee DeWyze CD. No one in my family will admit to buying it, so I guess it really was from Santa!

Santa is the spirit of Christmas, and the magic of surprise. I think everyone needs magic now more than ever!

If they are on the cusp and you have not had "the talk" yet, then yes, they will have to have Santa gifts. Ho, ho, ho.

Until I went to college, I received one gift from Santa each year. I will probably do the same for my daughter. She's 4, so I have at least a year or maybe 2. Right now, she gets one gift from Santa and her stocking filled. The bigger toys are from Momma and Daddy because my husband doesn't want to give the big guy credit for them. :-P

Merry Christmas!

Our kids all still believe...newly turned 12 yr old, 9 and 5. This will be our last magical year for our 12 year old. He is asking way too many pointed questions and he REALLY wants to believe...so we are letting this be the last and then we will talk to him. Then he will help us keep the magic going for the younger two. We are going out with a bang with him. We even have a Santa coming all dressed up at midnight to put our gifts out so the kids can catch him on video. It will be a fun "last" Santa Christmas with our oldest. He will always remember it.

I think next year we will still give him gifts from "Santa" but it will be with a smile and a wink and he will feel part of the adult fun.

I think it is just fun to do Santa gifts...I still want to believe and hold on to that magic and wonder myself.

Good luck and best wishes!!

I am 33 and my mom still gives my brother and I at one gift from "Santa". The single Santa gift started when I was about 9 or ten. "Santa" still brings the stocking stuffers for my DH and I at our house it's usually something small like a DVD or CD and our DS is almost 3 so he will be getting most of his gifts from Santa for quite sometime.

Santa will always visit my house! Santa always visited me, and long after my kids come to realize the difference in believing in the spirit, magic and fun and actually believing a man is coming down their chimney, they will still wake up to stuffed stockings and Santa surprises under the tree :-)

My parents gave us gifts from Santa until they died. The gifts were usually practical things such as socks and underwear.

I stopped giving my daughter gifts from Santa when she realized there was no Santa.

My granddaughter is 11 and is trying to figure out if there is a Santa and so she'll get gifts from Santa this year. And probably continue to get them until her younger sibs no longer believe.

everyone gets gifts from santa until no one believes anymore. And then when you stop believing you get underwear. Ok so I saw that on pinterest but I though it was pretty funny.

I think my folks stopped when the last of the kids were done believing, but stockings continued though high school (could always count on scotch tape and some lip balm in there :) We hang stockings for me and my husband so the kids know Santa looks out for all of us :) My husband gets some socks or underwear, and I keep trying to remember to have Santa get me something nice!

My girls are 20, 16 and 14 and Santa still visits my house every year. "He" mostly stuffs stockings now though. It's fun and Santa plans to keep doing it as long as my girls are home for Christmas.

My oldest was announcing to everyone (including her little sisters & her same-age cousin) that there was no Santa, and I was ready to have "the talk" with her about preserving the magic for others. I even borrowed the book "Superfudge" from the library.... we had read "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" together a few years ago, but I was holding off on this one because it says right out that there's no Santa. But as Christmas is approaching, she's clammed up about her non-belief... she's really in the holiday spirit, loves listening to Christmas music, etc. So I'm clamming up too!!!

In our house, there are one or two unwrapped presents from Santa that the kids all have to share, or else they each get a special gift that they've asked for - depends on the year. (Everything else is wrapped & from us, each other, Frosty, Rudolph....) So this year again, I decided to get a few big Santa presents for them all to share, plus a few smaller items that the younger ones specifically asked Santa for. The oldest asked for a million dollars, and she KNOWS she's not getting that!! ; )

My kids, 7 and 3, don't really believe in Santa (we don't encourage their belief, although I think my 3 year old isn't really sure). But they always get a gift from Santa, and I assume they will until college at least :) I got a Santa gift into my teens.

When I was growing up, Santa came for us every year until we moved out. When we were old enough to not get toys anymore, Santa just stuffed our stockings with things like mints, candy, toothbrushes, and gift cards (always signed from Santa)
