Gifts for the Quilter

This year, our family has decided to do a Secret Santa for the adults. I have picked my sister in law, who really loves quilts. I was thinking of getting her something related to that. She loves the look of quilts and has a very country style. She also has recently gone to a couple of weekend quilting conferences, learning how to make quilts. I was thinking of getting her some tools for quilting, but I am unsure of what she has already. I was also thinking of getting her some fabric, but they have recently bought a new house and have decorated, but we have not seen it yet since we are 2500 miles away right now. I know there are books on quilting, so maybe something like that? I could also get her a gift card to the fabric store, but that is kind of a boring gift. Our limit is $40, so I am sure I have a lot of options, but no ideas that I am set on. Do you have any suggestions?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Also, does anyone know of any good titles of quilting books or magazines? That way I can throw those into my consideration as well!

Get her O. of those fabric cutting wheels!

And some Fat Quarters!

And REALLY good fabric scissors.

Maybe a subscription to a quilting magazine?
Or a quilt book.

My mom is an award winning quilter and LOVES to get gift certificates to good quilt stores. Try to find a smaller, private upscale quilt store by her home. They have a WAY better caliber of fabric than the chain stores.

I know you think it is boring to give a gift card to the fabric store, but the ladies I know who sew or quilt love NOTHING more than to browse the aisles of the nearest JoAnn's and get ideas and buy stuff for their next project. I spent 3 hours in one a few weeks ago with a good friend. We were there PAST closing time! (didn't mean to be... just happened)...
And quilting supplies are pricey... you can spend close to $100 JUST on fabric and batting for a queen sized quilt, depending on the material you choose. I bought flannel for one side and regular fabric for the top, plus batting and thread for a quilt for my daughter (twin bed, but planning to make it full sized so she has more of it and it will fit a future bed)... and I spent $80.
Find or make a card suitable to the theme, and maybe include a good pair of scissors (sewing scissors are pricey too) or fabric cutter (the wheel kind?)... and include the gift card with it.
