Looking for gift suggestions for my son who is making his first holy communion next month. Girls are easy to buy jewelry, etc. for however I am having a harder time thinking of something special and memorable for my son. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

My husbands cousin gave my daughter a children's bible that surprisingly to me, she loves.
We threw my daughter's big parties so that was our gift to them:)

A beautiful cross for his bedroom.. Ask the Priest to Bless it.

An extra special Rosary..

James Avery Jewelry has beautiful items that would be appropriate. Look online..

I was far from the only Marine with a St Michael Medal around my neck!

My grandmother knew Id never be confirmed, but when she snuck a priest upstairs in the hall closet to baptise me on a rare visit "just in case"... I was also given this medal as my patron saint. Who knew her fluffy pink dress wearing 5yo granddaughter would actually grow up to jump out of perfectly good aeroplanes with weapons strapped?

One thinks jewelry for girls... But boys like them just as much.

My son wears a CTR ring, and I all but have to bribe him to take it off during sports. Finally compromised... I grabbed some old dog tag chains, and he'll necklace up.

Most boys/men really do LIKE jewelry. Hence the obsession with watches.

Which is another idea... An engraved wristwatch. Even if its a dress watch onlybtonbe worn on Sundays & holidays.

A Bible with his name and date of his first Holy Communion. Usually a reception with God Parents, close family and friends. The guest will bring other gifts.

What is his understanding of this event? JC's cousin was on track with her gift.

I agree with Riley. Each of my boys received a St. Christopher medal on a James Avery silver chain for their First Communions (they're 6.5 years apart). They loved the gift, and now many years later neither of the boys have ever taken them off except for chest x-rays.

St. Christopher is the patron saint of travelers, so when the boys were given the gifts (by my M.) they were told that St. Christopher would watch over them on their journey through life. Both boys pray to St. Christopher, asking him to pray to God for them and keep them safe. It seems to make both of them feel good, especially our youngest who is now 9.

Congratulations to your son!
