A lot of popular games come in the form of a deck of cards. There's Uno, Scrabble, and I think a Monopoly card games. Add that in a bag with candy and there you go.
My 7yo grandson is in Karate & they are having a Christmas party on Dec 20th. He is all excited about it. They are having a gift exchange during the party. The student brings in a gift & they are then given a ticket. The ages are varied & it is boys & girls. I am really stumped for a gift idea. I have thought of board games or a gift card to McDonalds. Any ideas are welcome..Thanks

You could do a "movie" theme... depending on what you are supposed to spend.
Bag of microwave popcorn
container of hot chocolate
DVD of an old "classic" (include the gift receipt too)
You could also do:
- cool 3D puzzle
- Play-doh set (kids love that much longer than they would admit)
- Art supplies
Please don't do a gift card. Kids really don't want to open that at a party, especially when everyone else will have something to "show" and play with.
I love the idea of Uno. Great gift idea- we're using it as a stocking stuffer this year.
My daughter just did this with her gymnastics team. She wanted to buy and wrap a large bag of candy (it was one of those "kiddie mix" bags with an assortment of different candy and gum.) The girl who got it was thrilled, of course, what kid wouldn't love that? lol :-)
Typically these types of gift exchanges are boys bring boy gifts, girls bring girls gifts, and that way there is something for all. What makes this hard is the varied ages. Can you ask someone in charge how they are working that...the ticket may steer each age group together.
Crayola Wonder Coloring packs
Fun Mechanical Pencils with a fun notebook
play dough
Marbles
Uno
Chalk
Jump Rope/Hoola Hoop
If all the kids are very close to his age (at our karate school, that wouldn't necessarily be the case), then it should be relatively simple to find something that your grandson would enjoy and take that. It really doesn't matter what it is. Girls are not always going to want "girly" things... my daughter would have LOVED to get a big boy styled lego set when she was 7. Shoot, she's 11 now and STILL would love to get legos. Or a nerf gun. Or ______.
Just because you want the gift to be gender neutral doesn't mean it can't be fun. Girls shoot nerf guns, too. :)
I was goign to vote UNO too it genereally covers most age ranges ( better than playdough) and is unisex.
Actually the MCDonalds isn't bad but i might give a drawing pad and pack of colored pencils with it.
What about a chapter book, even if the child couldn't read thy could be read too. we like puppy place books by Ellen Miles
Board games or books are wonderful for this age and are totally unisex. Pick one of your son's favorites and put that in. I would do an actual gift rather than a gift card.
I also sell Discovery Toys. We have some really great products for kids this age. Many are in the $10-15 range, so that works well for most gift exchanges.

I do like the idea of a board game or card game.
I'm not a big fan of McDonald's.
