hi moms. i decided to get another job just for helping more out with bills. my son is going to be going thru lots of changes in the next two weeks. he is starting earlier childhood school. he will be there from 845 to 1145. and then most likely he will be going to a daycare till i get done with my job, and then i also have another job i work nites at so he will also have to deal with me being gone at times all day and nite.. i was wondering how some moms keep the house work, spending time with there kids, and of course the hubby?? im a little scared bout starting this job. as i know it will put me at bout 50 or more hours a week.. in sept i started my frist job. and my son has dealt with that very well.. any ideas on how to juggle work and kids and house work and hubby that would be great.. thanks

honestly i would try to find ways to cut your spending so you do not have to work 50+ hours. i work 38 hours and find it very hard to keep up and to not feel i am shortchanging my kids...i keep up with dishes and laundry on a daily basis and the rest of the house can wait. if you looked at your spending you might be amazed at what you can cut in order to have at the most a 40 hour job a week!

I would definitely try to cut back on the hours you are gone from home. Fifty hours in a week isn't bad if you are not doing it every week . . . even with forty it can be hard to balance everything. But, sometimes it just can't be helped. When that is the case, what I have done is to spend time with my kids as much as possible. After all, they are only little once! After they are in bed, I spend a bit of alone time with my husband and get the work done around the house. This has left me with little sleeping time though. Hopefully your husband is a big help! . . . Even though you have your jobs, I would still keep looking for something better. Maybe you will be able to find something that pays more per hour so you don't have to work so many hours. Most of all take care of yourself. If you aren't healthy, it is hard to spend any quality time with anyone or keep up a job and the house.

Have you ever considered doing daycare so you can be home with your family and do housework but still get paid? I am a licensed provider in Appleton and have been doing so to be home with my two children. I have 10 children enrolled (some are part time) and prior to daycare I worked in insurance for 5 years with my Associates Degree in Business and I am making double what I made working in the office. If you have any questions or concerns about getting started please let me know and I would be glad to walk you through it. There are also scholarships available to help pay for 90% of the classes needed to get your license. Good luck with this hard decision.

I worked full time for one year after having my first child and managed to keep things together fairly well. I had to be very organized. After our daughter went to bed our 'together time' was spent making sure we were ready for the morning rush out the door. We decided to cut our spending after our second child was born so that I could work part time. The biggest struggle for me was that working full time made me feel like I wasn't being a good mom or a good teacher or wife and we were always behind on housework. We didn't think it would work and when we figured the budget it was going to be really really tight but somehow it has worked out just fine for the past 2 years.
I think 50 hours is ambitious and would be really hard - mostly on YOU! I hope you make sure you take care of yourself and get enough sleep. Be as organized as you can at night and make sure to spend some quality time with each child (and your husband) every day for them and for you! This time of year is hard on everyone financially - hang in there!

J.,
Have you ever thought about being a PartyLite consultant? It is great income, flexible schedule and lots of fun. I work the days or nights I want to, I am gone about 3 hours each time and I make an average of $100 at each show. I get paid weekly. I am going into leadership and am looking for people to add to my great team. If you are interested I could send you some info about it and you could decide. There is no pressure. I just want to offer this great opportunity. I have four kids and love doing shows it gets me out of the house, I get to relax and have fun, and I make money.
Send me a message if you are interested.

How is your new job going? If you are feeling a lot pressure and uneasiness you may want to try something else.

After my first child, I would have done anything not to go back to work. With my second child, after 12 weeks, I knew I had to go back for money reasons.

Now I have a choice and I work part-time for a local company and I also sell AtHome America Products. I can pick my AtHome hours around other family activities. I just started 2 months ago and have earned over $1000 in commission and over $1500 in homewares. I have only hosted 6 parties, but could host more. Plus I am on my way to earning a laptop and a free trip to Chicago this fall. They make rewards easy to attain and the best part of all, I got to start my business for FREE. So I had nothing to lose.

The other neat thing is that they are quality products and they have great rewards for hostesses to earn FREE and discounted products. So it is win/win situation all the way around. Win for you in earning money, Win for your family that you are available. If you want to discuss this, see my ad in the business section--or my website at www.athome.com/DeniseWildish

Have you tried praying about what you should do? We are either on a path or detour so try to discern where you are.

I wish you the best in your search for work/family balance.

I hope it all works out, and we are doing it for the best intrest of our family so don't feel guilty! I guess you have to make the most of your time when you are home. I would have a talk with Hubby and tell him you really need his help in being there for you and your kids. He will need to pick up around the houes and spend extra time with the kids.
I would leave the houes work till your days off, if you can and focus more on the family...
Make as many memories as you can while they are still little, kwim?
Good luck and stay strong, we all are superwoman!

Hi J....its a job in itself being a mother, a wife, and an employee. I managed to handle a full time job, a part time job and school full time (online) for two years to get my degree. It can be done, but it takes dedication, motivation, organization, and most of all teamwork with the family. Learn how to delegate. If your kids are old enough, put them to work with chores for an allowance, etc. It will be well worth the effort when you are able to reap the rewards. Be sure though to take 30 minutes out a day, at least, for yourself. Good luck
