Hi J.,
I had GD with two of my three pregnancies. I had to go on insulin for the last month of pregancey with one and almost the entire pregnancy for the last one. My children are both healthy thank God. First one with GD is now a senior in high school!! and super smart, healthy weight, not diabetic. My youngest is now ten, also very bright and healthy. Thank God. I had to go to ALOT of dr appts when i was pregnant with them. I had four sonograms a week with the last one, to make sure everything was ok. I had to have a fetal cardiac echo done on her to make sure her heart developed ok, all of these things are routine precautions. You will have to monitor your blood sugar, and remember to eat right. For me, it just made me more vigilant to make good choices. I was overweight, and actually ended up lighter after having the babies, though i gained adequately for pregnancy. I had them by scheduled c-sections 2-3 weeks early to avoid them getting too big, but they were completely normal weight. I think they went ahead and scheduled my c-sections since my first baby was non gd and i had a c-section with her. Read up, be as healthy as you can be, and definitely dont worry, because you will be under closer watch and chances are you will have as healthy or even healthier baby as you could without this issue. God bless!
