has anyone used the gdiaper? I saw them this a.m. on TV, they are good for the environment. You flush the inside, instead of dispose. They are a little more expensive, would like some feedback before I purchase. I use Seventh Generation now.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I probably will stick with Seventh Generation. I feel it's a good compromise as far as the earth, my pocket book and my time.

Congrats on the adoption. I haven't used GDiapers - we use cloth - but I've heard good things about them. Another resource for buying them for less money is www.diaperswappers.com

Have you considered using cloth? The new designs are so much easier to use and you just wash them at home. They are much better for the environment and less $$$ than disposables.

we just started using them about 2 weeks ago. we have some concerns, the inserts have the same type of gel in them that is used in regular diapers and we h ave heard that this is not actually environmentally safe. also, in order to get the gel part out you have to rip the insert down the side and bottom which usually means touching either the pee or poop. sometimes it doesnt rip very cleanly and it the mess just kind of falls everywhere (sorry to be graphic). the plus is that the covers are really great and they fit well. we havent had any leaks. what were doing now is mostly just using the covers and putting cloth inserts in them. once in awhile we use the g diaper inserts. the other nice thing is that since your flushing everything there isnt the constant smell of diapers in your childs room or the bathroom (wherever you keep used diapers). if money is a problem, if youre just going to get the g diaper inserts, its more expensive than disposables.

I've used them and just couldn't get the hang of it. We were constantly washing the liners (that darned poop just always seemed to get everywhere!), and so, in my opinion, they weren't all that much more convenient than cloth (in terms of rinsing/soaking/washing). If you want to try them out, I have extras and would be happy to give them to you. Send me a PM with your info.

Congratulations on your adoption! My friend recently adopted a child from Ethopia and they picked her up in May! Anyway, I used gDiapers briefly, and would recommend them if you are willing to spend the money. Try eBay first to get a cheaper starter kit if you prefer not to completely commit. You can also compost the disposable inserts. I bought a starter kit, but was too afraid to flush the inserts because I was nervous about it clogging our toilets (our house is nearly 80 years old), even though the company assures its customers that the inserts completely dissolve. Good luck and congrats again!

Hi L.,

Congratulations on the adoption! I'd have to echo everybody that says cloth diapers are better both for price and environmental friendliness. Diapers are expensive as it is, don't spend more than you need to!
Later.
